"Let me get this straight, you want us to believe that you're some kind of God and Colby was your what? Queen?" Daniel eyes the jackal God, emotions never once properly displayed on his face.
"A priestess, actually. She was one of the people to believe in me when my people betrayed me. I knew her when... Well... I watched her grow. Like from her very first stages of her life... As in, it was her first life and her soul was just created." The inked God attempts to explain but trips over his words; Oleander had never been strong at communicating with others.
"So what does that mean? Are you trying to date her or something?" Daniel, never one for words, was drawn out of his quiet demeanor since his best friend was involved. He could not hide his confusion, worry, or, for lack of a better word, jealousy.
"Actually..." Oleander's face goes red as he worries his bottom lip between offset teeth. Silence finds the strange mix of God and mortals as they sit on a worn couch in the mortal's residence. All three souls have met before, all three with heavy ties to one another whether they wanted their hearts and minds awoken to the truth or not. "I'm not here to do that and-"
"We didn't date in the past either." For the first time since they sat, Colby spoke. "There was love between us, but it was never romantic." Electricity hides behind those eyes of green as she examines the mortal shelled God before her.
Oleander wants to disagree but whether romantic love or not was far from the reason he was here now. "There's going to be a war." He clenches his hands tightly in his lap, anxiety making a home in his stomach. "My brother is going to kill me... Or mortals... Or something bad. I- well, I need your help. I'm not sure how but you're going to help me stop it."
Daniel raises an eyebrow at Colby, she shifts her body in uneasy response to the attention on her. "I feel like some kind of fucking Mary Sue in a bad fanfic." Both men blink in confusion to her response, making her laugh and break the tension. "A Mary Sue is the name for a main character that's boring and they seem perfect with adorable little flaws. They are usually young and save the day through some random unrealistic act or ability. The character is usually a self-insert."
"Uh-huh. Well if this was any kind of good fic, I'd be the main character. I mean, I'm the one who is a God. And another God is after me!" Oleander argues, inked arms crossed over his chest in proud triumph.
"No way." Long curls fall against Colby's face as she shakes her head. "It'd be me. I'm the one with some ancient ties to a God. All the teen girls would read my story and root for us to get together." Fleshy arms cross tightly over Colby's chest in her own prideful checkmate.
"Ew, no. My story is not about to be some romance one!" Oleander argues, hands unfurling to lean forward.
"You think I'd want mine to be?! I hate romance stories!" Colby shoots back, fire passing behind green orbs.
"Well mine would be an action adventure! With explosions! And- and... Guy stuff!" Oleander shouts, the severity of the situation falling short to the both of them.
"Alright, kids. We have a serious problem here and the two of you are arguing about some nonexistent story. You're both the main character. This is real life. Now can we please get back to discussing this war?" Daniel encourages, a small frown hinted on his lips. "We have to figure out what we're going to do."
