"Where are you going?" Daniel asks me as I tug on my boots.
"The library." I shrug. "I'm going to do some research."
"Seriously Cole? This isn't some Disney movie or-"
"Daniel." I stand and give him a warning look. "The future of our world depends on us. We have to be prepared and do all we can to save everyone. I can't just sit here and-"
"What if I go get tacos and we eat first?" He raises an eyebrow and crosses his arms over his broad chest and he knows he has me. I pout for only a moment before nodding my head. "You can research online while I'm gone."
"That sounds fair. But I am going to the library after!" I demand as I start tugging my boots off. He gives me a sideways smirk and shakes his head.
"Just be good and don't get into any trouble." He kisses my forehead before heading out the door.
I waste no time in pulling open my laptop to do some research on both Anubis and Osiris. It takes me all of ten minutes to become highly confused. According to the internet Osiris was a wonderful God. He was highly worshipped and was said to be above Ra in some instances. Anubis was said to be a smaller worshipped God though. He was a neutral party that simply weighed the heart of the deceased to decide if they would go on their journey in the afterlife or not. If the heart weighed more than some feather it was fed to the Goddess Ammit.
I cannot wrap my mind around everything. How is Osiris a good God? Why is he so evil now? Why wasn't Anubis more heavily worshipped if he now has such a big effect on the world's future?
And one of the most stunning things I've discovered is that Osiris and Anubis are not related. It is all dependent on the time period and where the worshipping was taking place. Some claim Ra is both of their dads but... I close my eyes and let out an annoyed sigh. The Egyptian Gods and timelines make next to no sense. It's all a flustercluck.
I groan and place my laptop on the ground, my hand brushes against something and I quickly pull away out of fear. It takes me a minute to take a look under the couch. My eyes catch golden words and worn symbols against a leather binding. "What in the world?" I whisper, pulling the book out. My fingers brush against the worn dark book.
The Death Justice System! and You
I raise an eyebrow and open the book, the pages are yellowed and hold a musty smell deep within them. I have no clue where the book came from or who owned it but something about it screamed that it was special.
