This chp is dedicated to one of my BFF's, 'shootingstarsxz' for helping me promote 'Runaway'. (As well as anyone else who helped me promote my story. Thx) Thx babe, I love ya. Thk u readers for being awesome and reading 'Runaway'.:) Well, I wanna let u guys know tt Abby and Draven r the main characters. (Duh) So why am I stating the obvious? Well I'm going to have parts where the other characters (such as Axel) will have a say in their thoughts so you can learn more abt them, so this is to kinda defuse any confusion in the future. Also, look out for a new character coming soon.;) Here is chp 7:)
Sleepy Head Youth (S.H.Y.)
P.S. If your over fifteen or sixteen and like paperback books too, I recommend 'Perfect Chemistry' by Simone Elkeles. You'll fall in love with it!
On friendly waters (Abby's P.O.V.)
I stretch my hands out as I wide as I can and let out a giant yawn. As usual, my eyes are temporarily in a blur state. Hmm, it's warmer than when I dozed off. Did someone put a blanket over me? Oh well, that was nice of them. I look at the digital clock, 6 a.m. Well, I might as well take a shower. Thanks to our prolonged stay, my laptop and MP3 are charged up. I unplug them and place them back in my bag, where it still hides my cash in zip lock bags. Hey, money isn't exactly waterproof. Using my MP3 as a light source (a really bad one too), I choose a pair of freshly washed clothes and take the shirt I wore yesterday morning, knowing that I'll be getting another shirt from the organisers later. Based on what I heard, we're leaving at 7:10 a.m. and the others wake up around 6:30 so I got plenty of time. I step in the bathroom where my feet undergo an uncomfortable chill when it comes into contact with the cold tile floor. I put down the toilet seat and throw my clothes on it then take advantage of the warmth of the shower water. I try not to use too much too conserve it. Thus, I savour every hot drop that touches my body. When I reluctantly come out, I brush my teeth and apply my pimple cream. Fun fact, one of my old nicknames was pimple face. Not that I care, but my face loves producing pimples. My hair is in a mess but I plan to comb the wet strands in the common mirror. When I walk out with my dirty clothes, pair of hazel eyes are watching me. Damn, did I take that long? 6:15 a.m., nope.
"Hey," He grins at me. His collar length hair looks like a birds nest; then again, mine doesn't look that great either. I try to ignore his masculine upper body and focus on his face. Nope, that's no help either. The amount of drool produced by females' ages fifteen to twenty five by staring at his sharp face is equivalent to that of the volume of drool produced from admiring his torso. Is he even that old. Shit, shut up. Say something.
"Hey," I reply him with a similar smirk. I have to admit, I'm glad that we made that truce. Now things won't be so tense. All of a sudden, his runs his fingers through his hair and avoids my eyes. Uneasiness conquers his emotions. It makes me wonder if he's nervous. If so, I just want to ease his discomfort. "Did you give me the blanket last night?" I ask to defuse the silence.
"Yeah I did." He says softly. If my cheeks were cold before, they are now warm. It's funny really, how I thought this guy was an arrogant jerk when in actual fact, he's a big softie.
"Thanks Draven."
"Call me Drave, that's what my friends call me." Friends? I thought we made a truce. Ah screw it, I'm happy to be pals.
"Ok Drave, call me Abby because Abs sounds wrong and I never had enough friends to give me a decent nickname." My voice holds sarcasm when I recite the last part. Draven chuckles, making me smile for reasons I can't explain myself. It's as if the sound of someone's joy makes me happy too.
"Well, I better hit the shower." Damn that gruff voice, always interrupting my thoughts. Now it sends this stupid tingling feeling through my muscles. Argh I hate it, but it's not his fault. "Oh yeah, there's pizza on the counter."
