All the tigers have been out
I don't care, I hear them howl
I let them tear right through me
Can you help me not to care?
Every breath becomes a prayer
Take this pain from me.PREFACE

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
I wrote this book when I was on a journey. A journey to find who I was as a writer. To discover my voice and locate my genre. In the labyrinth of thoughts, I discovered a whole new version of myself I did not know existed. Initially, this book was She Danced With Death, a book I had such high hopes for.
However, half way along the line I realized I was drowning in mediocrity. To curb this feeling of worthlessness, I ventured towards a new path. I decided not to over think it and feel I wasn't good enough. I wanted to shatter the cocoon of comfort I had built around myself and just write.
So without a major story line, a title or not knowing what the hell I was doing I wrote. No plan, no outline just words spewing from my fingers onto the keyboard. This was the most I had let go in a while. When I was done I read through and told myself.
"Dammit Gigi, you the shit!"
I hope anyone who encounters this book can relate with the characters on a deeper level. That with each update, you make friends with them, enemies too if you will.
F.A.Qs
Is this book going to be something deep?
That's the thing, I don't know. Every chapter is different and stemmed from a whole new source of inspiration. I didn't write this to meet a deadline or for clout. I wrote this because I wanted to enjoy myself without the dark cloud of wanting to be great or trying to stand out. I wrote this because I just wanted to write.
What do you want readers to expect?
Rehearsed response: Nothing short of the best.
True response : Anything and everything. Check mate doesn't follow a stereotype or a guideline so anything can happen. The queen bee can be nice, the geek can be a major schemer. It's teen fiction without the cliché drama. What is Check Mate a representation of to you?
I think Check mate represents a journey that in the process of the characters finding hope, love and power in there, I'd find something too.
