27 - The interview

Simon, Amy and I walked down the street, closing up to the café for each step. There was a strong, cold wind blowing through London.

"Now remember what we agreed." I said to my friends. Amy didn't seem to catch it as she walked beside me, busy with her own thoughts.

"I can't believe that we're about to meet a celebrity! And not just a random running-into-one, but a actually arranged meeting. This is so crazy!"

I let out a heavy sigh. I had told them to at least try to stay calm but I knew very well how she was feeling. Excited, nervous, happy. I had also told them to not ask him too much questions, especially about his personal life. I knew he liked to keep that away from the public.

It took some time before I actually asked Ben if it was alright for my friends to meet him. And he happily accepted.

"You've met a couple of my friends, I'd like to meet yours," he said.

I opened the door into the café and my eyes immediately found Ben sitting at a table.

"Oh my god, that's him!" Amy whispered loudly.

Ben didn't see us until we were standing beside the table. He raised his gaze and smiled when he saw me.

I was about to introduce them but Amy just had to spit it out.

"Oh gosh! You're him. I'm standing in front of a legend!"

Ben chuckled while I sighed.

"I wouldn't say legend, I'm just known by lots of people," he said and held out his hand. "Nice to meet you, Amy, right?"

She giggled and shook it, a little too long.

"Ben, this is Simon, Simon, Ben."

The two of them shook hands and then we all sat down. Ben and I on the same side while Amy and Simon sat opposite us.

"I can't believe you two are dating!" Amy excitedly said aloud. I hushed at her to keep her voice down, and she apologized but she was still bumping up and down on the chair. Okay, she didn't literally do it, but I bet she did it in her head.

Ben looked at me with a smile and took my hand to which Amy let out a "aw". "This is so, I don't know, cute and unbelievable and incredible! I love your work by the way!"

"Thank you," Ben chuckled. "Despite that I'm a well known man, doesn't change the fact that I'm still a human like you,."

"That's true," Simon said. "So you two are in a good place?"

Ben and I exchanged look. "Yes. Yes, we are," he said.

"How is the actor life like?" Amy asked excited.

One of the waiters came over to see of we wanted anything, and to not be rude just sitting here without ordering anything, Ben asked for a glass of water and Amy a soda.

"Ehm, it's interesting and challenging. I get to learn a lot about most things and meet amazing people. So it's fun, lots of fun," Ben said after the waiter left.

The conversation went quite well to begin with, but as the time passed, Simon began to ask that kind of questions that I practically begged him not to.
