Chapter Two

“Nolan? What the hell are you doing here?” I said quietly, but harshly.

He looked from the confused faces of my brothers, to my pissed off face, and settled his gave on his feet. “Callie, can we talk? Please?” he said shyly.

Now don’t go thinking I’m the bad guy. He looks and acts like a nerd, but he is probably a bigger playboy than even Ryan. He likes to suck girls in with his shy smile and cute blush but then he rips their heart out faster than you can say ‘Player.’ I hate it when I see his face because he acts so innocent around my brothers. I haven’t told them why we broke up because if they knew he cheated on me they would kill him- literally.

“Get out Nolan; I don’t want to talk to you,” I spat icily.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see Trent staring down at me. “Callie maybe he just wants to talk. Just to outside in the backyard, I know how much you too use to love sitting in the tree out there,” he said smiling warmly.

“Trent, don’t you remember? We broke up,” I said harshly glaring at him.

He scratched the back of his neck and smiled sheepishly. “I don’t really know why though, I mean, you never told us anything. Nolan just stopped coming. Talk to him, maybe you can work it out.”

He always was the reasonable one.

“Trent you don’t understand-”

“Callie, go,” he ordered.

Seeing no room for argument I motioned with a nod for Nolan to follow me, although I knew he already knew the way. As I pushed open the glass sliding door and stepped into the backyard, I was reminded how many memories were formed in this very backyard.

“Brings back memories doesn’t it,” Nolan said from beside me.

I just glared at him. “Shut up and tell me what you wanted.”

He smirked, and just like that the atmosphere changed. I went from seeing the boy I had almost fallen in love with to the jerk that broke my heart in a split second.

“Callie,” he whispered huskily. The way he said sent shivers down my spine, and as much as I hated him, I still had feeling for him even if only small ones. “I want to get back together, I made one mistake and it was only one girl and now it’s completely over for us?”

He moved to grab my hands but I pulled back, looking at him with disgust evident in my eyes.

“Nolan you made that mistake four times. If you think I’m going t get back together with you your dead wrong,” I said raising my voice.

He just looked dumbstruck. “Wait, you’re saying you don’t want to get back together?” he said in complete disbelief.

I just groaned at his stupidity. I really wanted to get away from him at the moment, I could feel the tears start to prick my eyes and I wasn’t going to let myself cry in front of him.

“Nolan were over, now get out,” I said angrily. I tried to turn away and walk into my house but Nolan wasn’t having that.

“Callie, can you just get over this little bump in our relationship? I mean you’re hardly going to find someone like me again, so take it while I’m offering.”

I wanted to smack him so badly right now. “You know what Nolan? I hope to the high heavens I don’t find someone else like you, because that would be awful,” I spat. I then turned on my heels, before he noticed the tear slid down my cheek and walked calmly back inside trying not to burst into tears.
