       |Chapter Thirteen: Selena's POV|

Making my way to my car after that encounter with Coach Pole, wanting to run out of there, not sure whether if it's from anger or embarrassment. I took notice of a figure slouched over sitting on the curb, near the front entrance of the school.

Recognizing the neon blue book bag immediately, I rushed over to my brother immediately.

"Jake." I said breathlessly.

"What do you want?" He mumbled, without moving, stiff as if he was a carved statue sitting on the pavement.

"Is everything, okay? What are you still doing here? You don't have soccer practice, today." I droned on, concerned trying to find my answers.

"Nothing! Just leave me alone." He made his voice more audible, still without moving from his position, his head placed in his two hands. I slightly flinched at his tone and words, but I was persistent.

"Do you have a ride? I can take you home-"

"Shut up! For goodness sakes, just leave me alone. Do you not understand those words? Just leave, it's what you do best anyways." He got up furious wincing, he practically spat in my face, towering over me by several inches.

My eyes widened as I noticed he had a few injuries on his face. His lip was cut, many forming, splattered bruises decorating his face, and his left eye was extremely swollen and red, almost shut closed. His words flying right over my head.

"Hey! What's going on here?" A voice boomed behind me, ignoring it I reached to touch Jake's wound before he backed up.

"Who did this to you? What happened?" I gasped, my hands still in mid-air.

"No one, and nothing. Just leave." He groaned.

"Selena, is everything, okay?" Justin asked still behind me, his voice barely reaching my ears. I turned to see Ryan accompanied him, standing there awkwardly.

"Yeah, hold on." I assure him before walking closer to my brother.

"You're coming with me." Before he could object, I turned to Justin and Ryan motioning for them to grab him.

"Dude chill." Ryan complained to him muffling Jake's mouth as he took him by the arms, and Justin by his legs having some trouble controlling his kicking.

"I told you I'd take you out for ice cream." I triumphantly smiled at Jake, sitting in front of him at a booth.

Ryan and Justin managed to get Jake in my car. I thanked them by inviting them on our trip to Dipper, an ice cream parlor downtown.

Growing up it was our favorite place to visit, it has a unique retro style charm. The only way our patents and nanny could get us to shut up or distract us as they were too busy.

"With the help of your dogs." Jake groaned.

"We are far from dogs!" Ryan objected, pushing my little brother more towards the window, purposely squishing him. Jake again flinched clutching his side, Ryan took note scooting back to his place

"I'm definitely not a dog, dude." Justin said focusing on his ice cream.

"Whatever." Jake rolled his eyes he groaned, not bothering to touch his favorite dessert. Staring out the window like he'd rather be anywhere else but here.

"Aren't you going to try it? It's your favorite." I questioned staring at him while eating my own cone.

"No." He stated bluntly.
