|Chapter Ten: Selena POV|

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." I repeated over and over again as we held each other in the same embrace.

"No, it's okay, baby." My mom cooed, her chin placed at the top of my head.

"I'm just sorry. I didn't fulfill your expectations. I'm sorry I'm not the perfect daughter. I let you down, I disappointed you both." I pulled away wiping away my tears.

"Selena, stop it. You haven't done anything to disappoint us. We were just worried. It's a huge responsibility. It was never my intention to make you feel like you had to leave your own home."

These words, I don't think I could completely believe them. I've always questioned everything anyone said to me, I have a hard time believing in people. When I do, many of them crush my expectations.

My parents are no exception. Maybe that's why I'm having a hard time letting myself be vulnerable now.

"I've only ever wanted what's best for you. I know I wasn't always completely there for you. I assure you I am now." She sighed.

"Yeah, I know that, mom."

"I'm behind you, one hundred percent. I want you to have that clear, okay. That it is why I am begging you to come back. There is no where safer than your own home, here with your family. We can go shopping for the baby and-" She started to babble.

"Mom, no. Please stop." I sigh, knowing I'm about to break her heart. " I can't come back-"

"And why not? Are you running off with this boy" She questioned in a demanding tone, she eyed Justin before continuing.

" What future do you expect top have with him? He'll leave you, Selena. He's not the father of the baby. He'll run when it gets hard-"

"That's enough!" I yell, not hesitating to stand up.

I saw both of my friends' eyes widen from the corner of my eyes. I could see Demi talking to her self mouthing No, please,Sel.

My anger got the best of me yet again. I'm starting to think that it is the best of me. I couldn't let her insult an innocent bystander. I didn't care if what she said could've been true.

"First off, he's just a friend. Momma, I love you, but I do not appreciate how you're disrespecting him or me. Secondly, he's been there for me since I've found out I'm pregnant with your grandchild. More than my own family has, that's why he's here. I can't believe how quick you were to judge-"

"You're right. I'm sorry, to the both of you. I offer my apologies. If you'd let me invite you guys to have dinner tonight-"

"What? No, of course not. This just goes to show your true colors. Well done, in pushing your children away, both you and dad. Thanks for the offer, but we'll be going."

Demi apologized to my mom as we made our way out of the living room. Surprisingly so did Justin. I wanted to roll my eyes so badly, they didn't have anything to apologize for.

"Selena." She made a last attempt to reason with me. I turned to see her with merciless eyes and crossed arms.

"Goodbye momma. I'll visit soon." I pressed my lips pressed together awkwardly as I turned back to my path out the door.

Jake came walking down the stairs with Gracie in his arms just as we were reaching the door.

"Sel." He called, a confused expression laid across his face. "You're already leaving, again?" Sadness evident I'm his tone. His eyes sagged along with his shoulders matching the look on his face almost made me want to stay.
