Chapter five...

We've started to drive again, when only then did I realize we didn't have a place to stay for the night. Luckily I keep an emergency credit card on me at all times. I don't know what I would've done without it. We past signs, signs, and more signs, mixed in with an assortment of office buildings. There was a small motel at an intersection called Budget Inn. To say it was a little sketchy would be an understatement. I'm pretty sure we passed a drug deal on our way in. We passed through the inadequately oiled doors to be greeted by an inadequately lit room. "Hello." A man said waving. He was Indian and had quite the accent. He looked to be the only one in the building. "My name is Qualeek, what can I do for you today?" He was also old and had hair that was slowly turning grey. He was a jolly old man kind of cute. Once again I am not gay. "Ah, yes kind sir, can we get a room for one night please?"
"Oh of course you can love birds."
Me and Lauren looked each other, she was blushing and fiddling with the sleeves of her sweater.
"Yes and uh-"
"One bed I'm assuming." He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. Gees old man what are you trying to do? Well this was awkward but I said, "yes actually that would be lovely thank you." I smiled while throwing my arm across Lauren's shoulders. She looked at me a little scared but I put her nerves at ease. His wrinkled hand handed me the key to our room. We thanked him and left the counter when he said, "Have fun but not too much fun ehehe."
"Uh.. Yeah sure." I said, putting an end to the most awkward situation I've ever been in. We got inside our room and both sighed. It was an okay room but to put it shortly, I understand why it's called the Budget Inn. "Well," I say. "It's Been a long day, we should probably go to bed." Then she frowns whispering a small 'okay'. She looks around for a second then starts laying down on the floor. Why was she laying on the floor. "Um, sweety, why are laying on the floor."
"You told me to go to bed so I am." That just broke my heart into a million little pieces. "Aw princess you don't have to sleep on the floor." I say, hoping she'll understand. She just coiled up tighter and says, "Good girls sleep on the floor or they get punished." She whispers. She recites it like a quote. Her dad has legit been brainwashing her. "Well, your dad's not here. I can't believe he made you sleep on the floor, that's not okay!" I say I little too angrily. I picked her up and put her on my hip like a baby. She's so light. Did her dad even feed her? I sat her down on the bed until she says something that breaks my heart even more. "Wait, this bed..is just for me?"
"Of course it is Sweetheart." She started to cry into my neck.
"Oh my goodness thank you so much, this is more than I could ever ask for." I was busy worrying about my grades while she
Was wondering if she'll ever sleep in a bed. Wow my priorities were so screwed up. "So how do you use it?" She doesn't know how to use a bed this is appalling! "Oh well um, you lie down in it and then you cover yourself up with the covers like this."
"Oh I'm so sorry I didn't know!"
"It's okay I'm not going to be mad at you."
"You won't?"
"I won't." I promise. "I'll just take the couch."
"WAIT, oh sorry, I mean um Oliver, can you sleep with me tonight?" I'm shocked she even asked me. I thought she was afraid of me. Not that I'm complaining though. "Of course I will." I climb into bed with her, my arms wrapped protectively around her waist as we both faded into the darkness.
