It took a hour for another transport to arrive. 2 vehicles arrived, a usual SDZ halftrack and a truck to bring back the wounded and dead. Luckily no one else of Die Wolfe were injured minus the few scrapes and bruises. Though that didn't help lift the feelings of them over the lose of Frank, but they didn't have the time to reminisce as they were soon told to keep moving. Die Wolfe got in the SDZ and it began to move to the village they were moving to. The drive was long and uneventful, and the thundering and rain wasn't helping.
After a hour or so they saw the outlines of the town's buildings, most of crumbling and burning. The SDZ stopped near the one of the buildings that looked stable enough to house the squad. Hanz looked out a window to find it clear, and signaled Ralph to open the door and to continue down the street. But as soon as the door opened a hail of gunfire exploded, nearly getting Ralph and destroying the door.
Hanz looked at one of the many windows for a reflection to see who they were against. He saw a busted open wall that seems to be house a British soldier and his Bren MG. "Hedwig, throw a smoke grenade out there." Hedwig followed orders and threw the canister out, and within seconds smoke filled the street and the squad quickly made their way across the street.
"Sir, we cant just leave that gunner there." Said Alfred, looking back.
"I know." Replied Hanz. The men continued down the alley to find a clear street and a way to the gunners position through the house he was in. "Ralph, Hedwig, go in and see if you can get him, Werner, give me that radio." Ordered Hanz as Werner handed him the phone that was attached to his radio pack as Ralph and Hedwig went into the building. "Hello? Can anyone hear me?" He said as he heard a gunshot back in the building. No answer. Hanz put the radio back as Ralph and Hedwig came out. "Ok men, listen up! I couldn't get contact with command, but we are here to complete our mission."
"But sir, the HQ is probably the most defended place here." Said Werner as Hanz shot him a glare. Werner looked down, afraid to make eye contact again.
"Ok. Now lets move." Ordered Hanz as they continued down the street. The entire squad was on their feet because, for some reason, they haven't run into any resistance. After a few minutes of walking they finally found the Building that was the British HQ. The men stepped into the HQ to find no one there, and they seemed to of left in a hurry as a fire seemed to just have been put out in the fireplace. What ever was left of them were only the cups of tea the officers left. Hanz ordered the men outside and to continue North as the town was pretty much downhill from the beach. The squad was finally about to reach the top of the hill where they could see the beach. Michel decided to run up and get there first. But when he got there he had the face of pure shock. The rest of the squad decided to run up and see what shocked him so, only to find no one on the beach, only the thousands of equipment, including tanks, guns, and more bigger artillery and AT guns.
