I screamed and shoved the bookcase off of me. It flew across the room and books flew off of the shelves. My dress was in tatters and I lost my shoes when the fighting started. I blinked the blood that was dripping from the nasty cut in my forehead, away from my eyes. The circle member stalked closer to me and I struggled to stand up from my position on the floor. I kneeled on the ground and slowly rose to my feet. I sneered at him and threw a fireball at his head. While he was distracted I expanded my wings and flew to the ceiling. I took a moment to breathe.
Magnus and I had returned from the rave and relaxed for all of five seconds before hell had broken loose. Circle members had found our hide out and they were killing warlocks left, right and centre. It was a fight for all of our lives. Already so many warlocks have fallen.
Magnus flung the bookcase in front of the shadowhunter coming after him as I swooped down and flung myself on the circle members back. I squeezed his neck in-between my arms and he tried to grab me and toss me off.
"You're magic's strong Warlocks. But is it strong enough?" The man who took Dot said to us. "Much stronger than that horned weakling I killed this morning."
I froze in my fight giving the shadowhunter enough time to grab me by my hair and rip me off of his body. I was flying and it's not because I wanted to.
"Elias?" Magnus whispered. I landed on top of the bookcase we've been throwing around the room. I groaned and crawled off. My chest hurt, My temple was throbbing and the whole room was spinning. I tripped over my hands and landed on a heap.
"That was his name. Well, lucky for us, he sold you out before I took his warlock mark." I gritted my teeth together and slowly stood up. Here he is boasting about Elias' death and I'm struggling to stand. I need to keep fighting for Elias and all the other warlocks. The shadowhunter was just waiting for me. He looked at me like Sylvester looks at Tweety bird. I threw mist at him. He avoided it with his Seraph blade and started to come for me. I weakly threw more at him. He tried to slash it away again but a little bit hit his arm. He groaned as the skin started to burn and bruise. He switched his grip and dove for me in a stab. I panicked and my eyes grew wide as I threw my hands up in front of me. I fell to a kneel and threw up a barrier between us. The bright red barrier shifted in the air moving like it was alive. We were both pushing against it. Him with his Seraph blade, and I was pushing away from my body using my crossed arms.
"Cat's eyes and golden wings. Be a nice addition to my collection." He chuckled. The circle member I was fighting grunted and fell as an arrow landed in his shoulder. The one Magnus was fighting got an arrow to the thigh and Magnus swung his hands around and the shadowhunter he were fighting fell to the ground. I stood up from my kneel and spit blood out of my mouth and onto the floor.
"Well done." Alec said.
"More like medium-rare." Magnus turned around and I saw his amber eyes widen before his Rico Suave personality came back. "I'm Magnus. I don't think we've been formally introduced." I rolled my eyes.
"Alec." I saw him open his mouth but I cut him off.
"We should... really get..."I stumbled forward before fixing myself. The room was still spinning but it was starting to slow down. The cut on my forehead continued to gush the hot liquid down my temple and over my eyebrow. I could feel the ache in my rib cage from getting hit by the bookshelf so many times. I at least bruised them, but most likely I broke a few.
"Right, we should join the party." They agreed. Magnus grabbed my elbow and pulled me through the mess we made. I weakly followed him. He sat me down beside Alec on the leather couch and I placed my head in between my knees taking deep breaths. The room calmed down and I sat up before looking over at Alec.
"Thank you." My throat felt raw and I didn't know if he heard it at first but then he looked up from his bow and at me.
"For what? All I did was my job. It wasn't that special." He shrugged his shoulders in a nonchalant way. I frowned.
"No, all you did was save the warlocks lives. Alec, you saved my life. You didn't have to follow us, and we already declined helping you guys. You didn't have to help us in return." I grabbed his hand giving him a gentle squeeze as I stared at the man beside me. He didn't understand that it would have been completely okay if he just walked away and let us all die. It was basically what the warlocks were doing to them.
"What did you expect for me to do? Just watch you die in front of me? That's not going to happen." I leaned my head on his shoulder and he leaned his head on my head. Zoe came over to us and sat beside us on the couch. I gave her hand a gentle squeeze too.
"Kat, your head is bleeding." Zoe pointed out, I lifted my hand back up to my temple and pulled it away to look at it. My fingers were dripping red but the blood was turning darker, like it was starting to clot. I sighed and lifted my forearm to start wiping it off. I cringed because it stung and decided that I was okay looking like a murder victim.
"It's okay Zoe. I'll be okay soon. Are you okay? Did they hurt you anywhere?" I asked the little girl sitting beside me. She shook her head no and laid down, resting her head in my lap. I slowly rubbed her back. I wanted to comfort her. I know what it felt like to lose a parent when you're still young.
"Hold tight, everyone," Magnus called out to the room. Alec and I turned around on the couch and Magnus gestured for me to stay where I was. "We're about to move." I sighed and went back to my previous position. Magnus worked him magic behind us and the dead bodies disappeared before the view started changing. There was a bright flash before we all landed in a new and mostly clean apartment. The furniture wasn't perfect but it was good enough for now. Magnus, myself and the other survivors could fix all of that later. Right now what was important was summoning the memory demon. We had a lot of work on our hands.
*Oh my God that took me forever to write and like always it isn't really edited so sorry for any mistakes. I'm sorry about the wait! This chapter was more of a filler and a bit on the shorter side but oh well. Thank you to everyone reading my story, I hope you're enjoying it. Now onto the important stuff :)*
1. Do you think the characters seem in character?
2. What did Kat mean when she said she knew how Zoe felt?
3.Any ideas on Kat's background story? (I have it all planed out but I want to hear what you think happened to our dear Kat.)
