Chapter Sixteen: Back to (Kinda) Normal

I woke up to light in my eyes. Stimulated or not, it still hurts when you're just waking up to it. I push myself off the bed and go freshen up.

Fifteen minutes later, I'm in the uniform that arrived as I was in the bathroom. To my surprise, it actually fits. Nice and snug. I wondered how they got the measurements when someone rapped on the door.

"Come in," I said, assuming it was William. "Is it too late to head to class?"

"That's why I'm here, Frost," calls a voice that's definitely not William. I turned around to come face-to-face with my most favorite person in the whole, wide world. I narrowed my eyes at Blake, not noticing our closeness. He grins sarcastically

"Can't come and make sure a friend makes it to class safe and sound?" He asked. I look to the doorway, searching for William. Blake, noticing my gaze, chuckled. I stare back at him, confused. A sudden thought flashed through my mind, and my expression turned to one of horror.

"Oh, you didn't kill him, did you? Are you going to get me back now?!" I started, "Please don't hurt me, I have so much to live for-"

"No!" Blake shouted, eyes wide. "You're Agent just had business, so the office sent me to get you."

His dark eyes sparkle in amusement under the strands of black hair over them. Then they darken slightly before he turns away from me.

"I'm still pissed about earlier. If you don't hurry up, you'll be late. I'm not waiting any longer." Blake informs me before walking out of my room and towards the front door. I let out a frustrated sigh and stumbled after him.

We're outside the class when he suddenly turns. A corner of his lips were up in a smirk.

"By the way, the uniform fits you." He lets out a snicker before dashing into the first period classroom. My face automatically went red. I've never been complimented, being with my mom all this time. This was new to me. Was it some kind joke to him? If so, what could possibly be funny about complimenting a girl like me?

I would've stood there and pondered the whole hour if the teacher, Ms. Ore, hadn't come out into the hall and asked me what I was doing. I quickly reply that I dropped my pencil, holding the mechanical pencil out to her. I go into the class, and the lesson starts.

One thing I noticed was how I kept on feeling somebody's eyes on me. Every time I looked back, nobody was facing me. I couldn't help but think it was strange coincidence that Blake sat in the same direction. I thought the guy hated my guts or something. Besides the name that follows mine, I was pretty ordinary.

What a strange guy, I thought as I jotted down the notes as the teacher explained them.

"Mayber," said Anna, taking another bite out of her cheese hamburger, "Marber her likes shou."

I scoff, something I've seen a lot of girls around me do. We were talking about him. "He has a girlfriend, remember?"

"Yo nevah know, Feebo. I heard dat dey were fighting earier or shomething."

"Anna, I can hardly understand you. Finish you're food first. And what does that have to do with me?"

The blonde rolled her eyes and focused on her food. The noise of the food court drowned out anything she said after that. It was lunch break, after my fourth period. The school was very strict on academics, filling up most of the day. I had only an hour for lunch and a few hours after class to sleep and get work done. It was a tight schedule.
