Her eyes gave her away.
There was a drowning girl
Behind that smile.
Chapter 5
"Seating Plan of Death"Saphira's POV:
Sleeping has always been quite a struggle for me; finding the right position, the lighting, noise etcetera, etcetera. Now, adding in the, uh, dreams that I have during the night and a couple of busted ribs, I get a whole lot of difficult when trying to sink into the sweet oblivion of sleep.
Apparently the world decided that that wasn't enough, so Myra suddenly starts grinding her teeth together as she sleeps on the floor in my room. Fortunately, she woke up not long after she began. Unfortunately, she was sort of startled awake via dear ol' Natalie playing his music at two in the morning.
So, here I am, scalding hot chocolate in hand as the zombie versions of Myra, Tori and I make our way into the school. Nothing around me registers; the students staring, people whispering and fingers being pointed.
Nope, my mission in life right now is to kill Nate.
"Myra, do we have physics first?" I ask tiredly, eyes drooping of their own accord. She blinks at me, reaction time slower with the small amount of sleep we got.
Wow, I'm doing physics already...
...I hate it.
"Yeah, and we have roughly a minute to get there, so ciao!" Myra waves at Tori before holding onto my arm and pulling me forwards in the direction of our class. I stumble along behind her, my main concern being to keep all of the hot chocolate inside the take away cup.
Thankfully, the blonde lets me go as we enter the room, stopping in front of a petite red head sitting by herself.
"Next time you do that," I frown, shifting my arm around uncomfortably, "give me a warning."
At the sound of my voice, the unnamed girl looks up, a startled expression on her delicate features. However, she relaxes as she sees Myra, a small, relieved smile lifting her lips up at the corners.
My mouth pops open slightly and surprise makes me freeze in any movement.
Her eyes are purple!
The girl notices my expression and lowers her head, covering her face with a sheet of hair. Guilt flickers inside of me and I snap my mouth shut, putting a rare smile on my lips instead.
"I'm sorry if I startled you," I say softly, ignoring Myra's raised eyebrow.
Who I presume to be Emma mumbles incoherently and I bite my lip.
