Two

I was jolted back into the present when the bus driver parked the bus in the circle drive, and right by the dark tinted glass doors that are not far from the black box, where all the theatre classes are held if you have Mr. Alexander’s class, like Missy and I.

And when he opened the doors I sling my backpack over my shoulder, step off the bus, and entered the dangerous territory known as my home school. But as I walked into the school I tried to smile and hope that class would be one big laugh riot, like it usually is on a daily basis. Even when I’m having a bad day, there is no way to keep a straight face with what crazy, and hilarious improved scenes that the upperclassmen think of right on the spot.

I quickly walked through the halls towards the black box like my usual routine. I entered the classroom to find that there’s a new kid in here, which is very rare for us theatre kids. Most people in the state of Texas, from what I’ve gathered since I’m originally from Florida, mostly choose sports over the arts. But that’s not the only reason why I felt as if my breath has been knocked out of me.

This guy is obviously way taller than me, but probably no more than five inches or so. His skin appeared to be olive tone, but to me it almost looked pale, but it’s hard to tell. His oily black hair was full of luscious curls that only stop a little ways below his ears. And his eyes, his dark, mysterious eyes made me feel as if I’m being hypnotized when he looked at me. They were…beautiful. There wasn’t another word to describe not only his eyes, but his entire body as well.

I didn’t realize that I was frozen where I was standing until something shook my shoulder. And after shaking my head, I looked up to see Missy staring at me with concern in her bluish green eyes with her auburn hair with platinum blond highlights she got over the summer break, pulled back into a high ponytail. I could’ve sworn that she gotten a little bit taller the last time I saw her.

“Amanda, are you okay?” she asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” I said as we took our seats in the same spot we sat since day one. But after setting my backpack down and retrieving my script, I look up to see Missy staring at me, and her eyes looked incredulous. She obviously didn’t believe me.

“Seriously, are you okay? Cause I see a new guy in this classroom, and you look like you just saw Taylor Lautner walking down the halls, if that were to happen.” She said with a matter of fact tone, like she’s being the older sister in our friendship. And I couldn’t hide the blush that entered my cheeks when she mentioned my favorite actor.

“I’m telling you for the millionth time that I’m fine.” I said with false conviction, and it’s not long till she finally believes it, takes out a copy of her script, and goes over our lines. Hoping to change the subject I quickly ask, “Hey, what kind of sodas should I bring to the cast and crew party next Saturday?”

“Surprise me.” She said as she flipped through her script, trying to find the scene where the nurse tells Juliet that Romeo had been banished for killing her cousin, Tybalt. She would be the nurse, because of her obvious height making me feel a little bit younger. It’s the only thing I could say is a close enough chance to play Juliet, even if it is for about five minutes. I really wanted Missy to be Juliet, but she insisted, making it clear that no average thirteen-year-old girl would be five foot eight, even if it took place way back when.

As we went over our lines I was secretly staring at the new kid whenever I thought Missy wasn’t looking. But I think she knows that he’s easily distracting me. Every once in a while, she would give me a look of annoyance whenever she caught me in the act of gawking at him. And it’s not only with his obvious beauty that’s distracting me, but also with the feeling of something mysterious that’s emanating from him.
