“He totally likes you.” Amber said as we make the short drive back to the neighborhood, this time, heading to Missy’s house. Her words immediately scare the crap out of me. Since I came out of the PAC after changing back into my regular clothes, and finish striking the set, Amber hadn’t said a word when I arrived to the car. So…yeah, her words coming out immediately after we left the school parking lot really surprised me.
“What makes you say that?” I asked almost bluntly as I make sure that the sodas are still in the bag.
“I was sitting like, five feet away from him, and he hasn’t taken his eyes off of you since your first entrance. Plus, I could see there is an instant chemistry between the two of you.” She said with an almost devious smile as we turn onto Missy’s street.
And almost immediately, I recognize a few of the seniors’ cars parked outside a house that looked too triangular for an old house. As Amber pulls up to the house I could see Missy outside on her cell phone, and she was pacing almost as if it’s a bad habit of hers.
“Call me whenever you want to come home.” Amber reminded me as I grab the grocery bag with the sodas.
“Okay, I’ll see you later.” I said as I quickly gave her a hug, and climb out of the car.
As I wave bye to Amber, I hear Missy’s voice calling out, “Hey, you made it.” and when she notices the grocery bag she added, “I’ll take the bag, go on in, the party’s just getting started.”
“Sweet.” I said as I hand her the bag, and make my way inside as Missy continues to greet more of the guests that came a few seconds after Amber drove off.
I had never been inside of Missy’s house, but as I looked around the handkerchief size-like living room, it was like a real party. Like ones I’ve seen in some TV shows, just before some idiot brings in a keg of beer and it turns in to something out of Animal House. In one part of the living room, a small group of people was dancing to the music from a stereo system. A group of the boys were playing a video game on an Nintendo Wii someone thought to bring on a big screen TV. In the kitchen, another group was eating a choice of pizza, chips with a choice of hot sauce, queso, or sour cream and onion dip. There was also a tray of desert that I’ve never seen before, but everyone seemed to enjoy the strange delicacy.
As soon as Missy returns to the kitchen with the sodas she arranged them next to more bottles of sodas.
“Missy, what is that?” I asked, pointing at the plate with the desert.
“Indoor s’mores. I made ‘em myself.” She said before she hurried off to another part of the house acting as hostess.
I sit at the small circular table along with other members of the cast and begin to snack on the desert, which is actually delicious despite the way it looked at first. Apparently, everybody else also liked them; otherwise they wouldn’t be disappearing as fast as midnight movie tickets for the future blockbuster smash.
“So, Amanda, is Cyrus coming?” Chynna asked before she stuffed a chip partially covered in hot sauce into her mouth. After asking, all the girls who were there on the day they gave me advice began to stare at me with nothing but true curiosity in their eyes.
“Yeah, did you finally ask him?” Claudia asked, or begged would be a better word.
I’m met with more people begging for the answer that only I knew. I knew that I had to answer, but I just liked to see them beg with the curiosity obvious in each pair of their eyes. Then, I finally had enough of the constant begging.
