Ellie layed in bed, staring at the ceiling

Ellie layed in bed, staring at the ceiling. Her house was still quiet, a very rare thing and she was soaking up the new found silence. She sighed looking around her room, not ready to start the day. She shared a room with her ten-year-old sister Debbie and two-year-old brother Liam. Their room was small, most of the space taken up by two twin sized beds and a crib pushed up against the wall, which were covered up by posters of Zac Efron and The Jonas Brothers.

Her life was like a soap opera, drama every other day. Her older sister Fiona practically raised her and her older brother Lip and younger brothers Carl and Ian. The boys all shared a room, it being just as cramped as hers and Debbie's. Their father Frank was an alcoholic and was almost never home and could care less about his seven kids. His drinking got especially bad after their mom, Monica -- a "raging psycho bitch" in his words -- left. Ellie couldn't really blame her, sometimes she thinks if she had the opportunity to leave would she?

She looked over to see Debbie already up and dressed, pulling Liam from the crib that butts up against Debbie's small bed and neat, tidy desk. She made a face at Liam, smiling when he giggled.

A loud bang was heard against the door, it swinging open, Fiona peeking her head in, announcing, "7:15."

That was routine; Fiona making sure her siblings were up by 7:15 every morning. She was like their personal alarm clock. Without her, Ellie would surely be late to school every morning. Ellie got out of bed, pecking Liam and Debbie on the forehead as she passed them on her way out. Another thing that was routine was her and her brothers, Lip and Ian, arguing about who got to shower first.

"First shower!" Ian called from his bedroom, trying to stay in front of Lip to reach the bathroom first. He hadn't even realized that Ellie was already in the hallway, waiting with her lips pulled into a smirk, her hand rested on the swell of her hip, not today boys.

"You had it yesterday!" Lip argued chasing after him, abruptly coming to a halt when he almost ran into Ellie. His face quickly morphed into shock and annoyance once he realized Ellie had beaten both of them.

"And now I have it!" Ellie boasted running into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind her. Ian made a noise of protest but made his way down stairs, knowing it was useless to argue with Eleanor Gallagher.

"Fuck!" Lip exclaimed banging his fist on the door. "You're such a bitch, Eleanor!"

"I'm sorry, Philip, I can't hear you over the steaming, hot water!" Ellie sang teasingly as she stripped off the tshirt she wore to bed and hopping into the shower, moaning at the feeling of the hot water cascading down her body. "Let's hope there's some hot water left when it gets to your turn."
