"Can I ask you something..?" I mutter to Ash.
"Of course." She replies, putting the dishes away, while I'm sitting on a stool.
"I've been FaceTiming a guy recently..." I pause. Her eyes light up.
"Tell me more!" She squeals, looking and sounding excited.
"I want him to ask me out, but we live a few hours away, and he's kinda famous..." I blurt out. She instantly rolls her eyes, slamming her hands on the table.
"It's Mark, isn't it?" She asks, sounding annoyed.
"What's wrong with that?" I defend his honour.
"Excuse me, remember!" She knocks a little on my head. "He was an asshole to you, in front of all his friends, remember??" She's getting frustrated, I can tell.
"Look, he was only protecting me from the rumours. Maybe he likes me..." I sigh, dreaming of his face, who I had talked to only a couple hours ago.
"Do what you want, okay, Y/N, but I don't want you getting hurt..." She holds her body. "I don't want anything happening to you...." She's very tough, so when she gets emotional, I can tell she's serious.
"I know Ash, and I'm very grateful to you for that." I grab her, hugging her. We're about the same height, so it makes it easier to hug her.
"I'm going to go out... Maybe stop by and see Seth." She smiles weakly.
"No." I state.
"No, what?" She tilts her head in confusion.
"You're not going to see that lowlife. He was a total dick to you!" I remind her. She shakes her head, putting her hands up.
"I give up. Nothing I do is good enough for you, you and your perfect self!" She runs to her room, grabbing her purse and leaving our apartment.
I grunt, and then kick a pillow, which knocks over a picture of us. The glass breaks, exposing a thin piece of paper. The first selfie we ever took, now little shards of glass surround it. I reach down, picking it up, and dusting it off with my sweater sleeve, to not get glass on my hands.
I sit down, my hands holding my head up. I'm angry, but at the same time I don't want her going to see her ex boyfriend, the man who caused her so much ruin.
"I shouldn't have interfered.." I whisper. My fist tightens, but... I let it go.
*bleeep bleeep bleeeep* my phone goes off. I rush to my room, where its sitting and answer the FaceTime call.. It's Mark.
"Hey Mark.." I smile faintly, trying to fake a smile.
"Hey Y/N," he grins. I can feel his eyes plastered on my body, even if there's a screen between us. All of a sudden I hear a girl in the background.
"Who's that...?" I ask, scared of how he was going to answer.
"My friend, Tiana." He smiles, looking up at her, I guess. I hear whispers, then giggling.
I can feel my heart aching. What is he doing? If he likes her, then why is he spending so much time talking to me?
"Tiana, huh?" I chime in.
"Yeah, she's my-" I interrupt him.
"Mark." I can't hide anymore, I'm scared, but I have to know....
"Yeah, Y/N?" He asks.
"Do you like me?" I gulp, staring down at my nails. I pick at them, due to my nerves flaring up.
"Uhhhh.." He stammers.
"Please, just the truth.." I sigh. I look up at his face for a second, which is staring at me. His face looks as white as a ghost, which for Mark, isn't good.
"No." He tells me.
I can feel my heart pounding, my chest closing in, my throat becoming dry, and a few tears welling up in my eyes.
"Why, do you like me?" He whispers.
"No, I was just curious." I lie. Sure, I was curious, but I... I really do like him.
"Ah, okay...." After he says that, it's awkward silence.
"I-I have to go...." I tremble. I can feel my tears beginning.
"Y/N, are you crying?" He looks concerned.
"I'm sorry..." I cry out, ending the call. I plug my phone in, then turn it off. I curl my fingers into my palm, feeling the sweat that had been beading up. My hands are shaking, and then all of a sudden, a drop of water lands on my arms.
I hear my phone going off, so I check it. Mark's Facetiming me. I ignore it, and lie down on my bed. I start shaking, my tears continue to fall, making me softly moan from the pain.
"W-Why do I do this to m-myself?" I cry quietly.MARKS P.O.V.
"Why isn't she answering, ugh.." I continue to call her, FaceTime her, text her, everything.
I decide to call Sean and ask him what to do.
"You did, WHAT?" He exclaims, sounding a bit annoyed, yet again.
"I-I lied to her, Sean..." I gulp, feeling a bit upset, myself.
"You have to tell her the truth, Mark." He tells me.
"No..." I whisper into the phone.
"Mark, I'm not kidding! You and Y/N have a thing going on, I can feel it. I know you like her, and I know for a fact she likes you too." He tells me. My forehead begins to sweat, I wipe it with a cloth.
"But she said she doesn't like me." I respond.
"She might be 'perfect' in your eyes, but she lies sometimes too Mark." I can just picture Sean rolling his eyes. I smile, relieved that my best friend knows what to do sometimes.
"But the next problem is still obvious..." I chatter.
"And what's that?" He asks me.
"She won't answer my texts, my phone calls, nothing," I tap the desk top I'm sitting at.
"Text me her number, I'll call her." He commands.
"Alright," we hang up, leaving me to text him her number.END OF MARKS P.O.V.
I sit up, blowing my nose.
"You dummy..." I laugh, wiping my eyes with my sleeve.
"Just because he doesn't like you, doesn't mean that it's the end of the world..." I nod, agreeing with what I'm saying to myself.
All of a sudden I get a phone call, from a number I don't recognize, so I answer it.
"Hello, Y/N, here." I say.
"Hey Y/N, this is Sean." He exclaims.
"Oh, hi Sean." I smile.
"So what's up with Mark and you?" He questions.
"Nothing...." I lie, trying to get him to believe it.
"You sure? You don't sound too convinced yourself.." He adds.
"Okay, so maybe I'm upset, but hey, oh well." I sigh.
"Tell me what's going on, please. I'd like to help." Sean tells me.
"Sean..." I begin. "I like Mark. It's probably obvious, but the month or so we've been talking, has been the most interesting month ever. He's an amazing person, he's kind, caring, hilarious..." I feel myself going off topic.
"What I'm trying to say is, he doesn't like me. Maybe that's for the best..." I laugh, trying to sound believable.
"How do you know he doesn't like you?" Sean asks me.
"Because he told me..." I reply quickly.
"People don't always tell the truth Y/N..." He says quietly.
"Marks hiding a secret, and it's up to you to find out what it is.." I can just sense Sean smirking.
"A secret...? " I question him. "How do you know that?" I scoff.
"He's my best friend, he tells me everything." Sean gasps. "And the truth is... Well... He likes a girl."
"O-Oh..." I sigh.
"Y/N."
"What?" I'm annoyed.
"That girl is you..."
All I can feel is my heart beating so fast and hard....
"He... He likes me?" I gulp.
"Yeah, but he can't know I told you this..." He laughs evilly.
"AUGH," I growl.
"What do you expect me to do now?" I ask him.
"Go get the man, woman." He laughs, hanging up.
This is going to be a wild ride.....
