Charlotte's POV

It was about eight o'clock at night and I was just catching up with friends from back home and playing on my phone.

I was texting my other best friend, the one I made after Cora, Lexi. We were talking about how things were going in Lake Wilson, and how everyone was taking the news about Elle.

Lexi told me that Griffin (for those of you who might have forgotten, Jake Griffin is Charlotte's ex) had been helping out as much as possible; and not because he was my dad's partner.

I just pushed it aside; if Jake wanted to ask me out he would have. And that's exactly what I told Lexi.

I was just starting to giggle quietly when I heard Tye shouting my name from his room. "Charlotte! Charlotte!" Tye was running down the hallway, and as he pushed open my door I stood up from my bed in alarm.

"What's wrong, are you okay?" I looked into Tye's eyes and all they showed was pure panic.

"Elle was shot by her kidnapper," Tye stated and my face dropped. I abruptly sat down on the edge of my bed, to which Tye followed. "Police are surrounding the house where she is and mom texted me saying that they heard a gun shot and scream."

"Was it Elle's?" I didn't look at Tye's face, and I'm not sure I wanted to.

"They couldn't confirm anything," Tye looked down at his phone as it dinged. "Mom says that forces are moving in."

"Dad's there right?" I asked.

"Yeah, but not on duty; mom said he couldn't focus," Tye put his phone back down after replying to our mom.

"That's a bit understandable," I said. "I guess London will have to wait for Elle then."

"That is if she makes it out alive," Tye pointed out the fact that I had been trying to avoid.

"I think she will, Tye," I told him, not actually believing in what I was saying.

"Me too," Tye sighed and we both waited in silence for more updates.

Every time Tye's phone dinged we both looked down at it, both expecting the worst, but it wasn't even texts from mom; it was mostly notifications from other apps, which was slightly annoying.

Finally mom texted Tye saying that they got Elle out and she was fine. I grabbed the phone off the bed and called my mom immediately.

"Hello?"

"It's us mom, Tye and Charlie."

"Yes, I was expecting you to call," she sounded slightly out of breath, and her nose was stuffy; she had probably been crying not to long ago.

"That bastard is going to jail, right," Tye took the phone from me and turned the speaker on.

"Yes, he is. There on their way to jail right now."

"Good."

"Would you like to talk to her?"

"Yes, please."

We heard my mom walking towards whom we assumed was Elle, and there was muffled voices and finally Elle spoke clearly through the receiver.

"Hey guys."

"Are you okay? Where were you shot?" Just hearing her voice made me feel very relieved; so relieved that I couldn't talk.

"I'm fine now; I'm just chilling in the back of an ambulance. I was shot in my arm, but the bullet went straight through, only tearing muscle."
