Surprise update!
Charlotte's POV
Walking home wasted about two hours. I didn't have anything to really do, so I rested and played on my phone to waste more time.
Tye came home around 1:30 and he brought lunch with him. We sat down in the unfilled living room and ate together.
"How was practice?" I picked at my chicken nuggets.
"It went well. I just felt nervous the whole time and you could tell who else was nervous as well," Tye played with his salad.
"Well, I ran into Malakai Marner. Mitch's brother," I explained after Tye showed no recognition to who Malakai is.
"Oh, yeah. I know Mitch; He's a cool guy," Tye took another pack of salad dressing and spread it onto the parts he hadn't.
"Is he on your line?" I took my nugget and dunked it into my ketchup.
"Yeah, and some other guy that's really nice, but I don't even know his name," Tye answered.
"How could you not know his name?" I looked at Tye funny.
"We've never met. We do line drills together, but I don't see him besides that," Tye shrugs.
"That's weird," I say and Tye nods, agreeing.
"It's almost like he disappears, but I'm pretty sure he's just at the end of the line or something," Tye takes another bite of his salad.
I just nodded; my mouth was full. We finished our meal together, making small talk about his team and the weather.
"I've got to leave at 2:10. You can show up any time: some of the guys didn't even plan on leaving the arena," Tye explained after I gave him a questioning look.
"Ah okay. I'm meeting some friends in the lobby and we should be there for warmups," I say and Tye nods.
"I'm going to go get ready," Tye picks up his empty plate and throws it away while he leaves the room.
I sit and finish my chicken nuggets by myself, scrolling through my phone and minding my own business.
I even talked to my mom about how Elle was doing and when she would be out of the hospital.
She told me a while; she didn't give me an exact date.
I finished my meal and threw it away. I went to my room and, once again, just hung out and played on my phone.
There really wasn't anything fun for me to do, to be honest. Two hours goes by extremely slowly, considering I was absolutely bored out of my mind.
I traded my shirt for my jersey and checked my hair. Eh, it's good enough. I'm only going to a hockey game.
I grabbed my phone, key, tickets, and texted JJ that I was heading down. He replied by saying that he was going to stop by Ethan's place to get him and that they would meet me in the lobby.
I exited my apartment and rode the elevator down to the lobby.
Still not many people were in the lobby, but this time quite a few were here and looked to either be checking in or out.
JJ and Ethan weren't in the lobby when I got there, so I sat down on one of the couches and waited patiently for them to show up.
First I heard the elevator. Then it was drowned out by two laughs that made me smile.
One belonged to Ethan. The other belonged to JJ. They were laughing so loud that many of the people in the lobby stopped what they were doing and looked towards the pair exiting the elevator.
