Got miles to go, but from the day I started crawling I was on my way to find you.-Sing Street, To Find You

When I was seven, I fell off my bike and scraped my knee. I cried for an hour. I used to think that would be the most painful experience of my life. I realize now how naive I had been; heartbreak is a different kind of pain. It sunk deep and settled unnaturally, causing everything to feel empty; hopeless.

I know eventually I'll learn to let go, the only problem is that I don't want to. Not now, not for a while.

Right now, all I want to do is sleep and try to be supportive of Noah. I know he will love it in LA, it's easy to tell. He belongs in a crowd of sun kissed, starry eyed teenagers trying to find their place. He's a dreamer; he's the kind of boy who makes you want to fly. That's a soul that belongs in the city of angels.

He deserves that reckless rush of adventure. Even if it means he has to leave, a part of me is beyond happy for him. The other part of me wants to be selfish, but I know that's not right.

After dinner, he had dropped me off and walked me to my door. He had kissed me and said, "let's make the most of the next three months."

So I promise myself that through every disagreement, through every bump in our friendship and every heartbreak that takes place, I'll still love him. At this point, it is not a choice.

We aren't official, but I feel like that is better for us. It means no breakup, just a melancholic goodbye that we will inevitably share. It means all I will have to do is stand in the airport with a ghost of a kiss on my lips and no boyfriend to let go of, just a could have been.

Are could have's easier to let go of than what once was? That's the question in the end that I'll unfortunately figure out.

At Hunter's place where we are all currently hanging out, Noah breaks the news to everyone.

He clears his throat obnoxiously, capturing everyone's attention. "Hello, friends. As you all know, I am extremely talented. Because of that, I was offered a scholarship to UCLA that starts in the summer that I have already accepted. I wanted you guys to be the first ones to know."

"Just when we started being friends again," Mackenzie muses. "Don't forget us when you're stuck in a city full of angels."

"I could never forget the devils from home," Noah grins and Mackenzie smiles back at him.

Hunter leans in closer to me and says, "beauty, brains and talent? If you don't marry this guy..."

I shove him away.

"You know, Jackson, I never thought I'd grow to like you; I've always tolerated you," Thalia starts. "But I can honestly say I'll miss you. Good luck out there."

"Guys, I still have the rest of senior year," Noah says weakly. "This isn't goodbye."

"Three months flies by like that," Katy snaps her fingers. "Especially for seniors."

"Which is why I plan on making the most of my time while we're all still together," Noah nods his head. "I expect all of you guys to clear your calendars for the next three months and prioritize me."
