Chapter Thirteen;

          The minute we enter the house, it's filled with the scent of cinnamon, and it brings back childhood memories. My mum always loved baking; still does. She would do endless baking for charities, wedding and events. Now she has become a book publisher, who knew? The minute we go to talk, a tall man appears. His dark brown hair and slight stubble around his chin and jawline, his blue eyes sparkle with joy when he lands eyes on my mum.

She blows a strand of hair out of her face, and she walks over to him and he embraces his arms around her small body, and cradles her head before kissing her softly on the lips. My heart aches at how loving they are, and my brain feels fried from thoughts swimming around. Mum separates herself and smiles up at him.

He wraps his arm around her waist before they land on. "Allison, I would like you to meet Carter" Mum said before looking at us both, when he doesn't move I decide to take charge.

"It's nice to meet you Carter, I've heard a lot about you" I said to him, before stretching my hand forward and he shakes it before laughing and pulling me in for a hug, he must be a hugger. Laughing I then hug him back, glancing up at my mum she is smiling from eye to eye, she must be really glad that Carter and I are getting on.

"Good things I hope" He jokes as well before letting out a laugh. When he lets go, my mum lets out a sob and I turn around looking confused, Carter lets out a soft chuckle before he walks over to my mum, wrapping his arms around her he pulls her in for an embrace. "Alisha, you promised you wouldn't cry" Carter said softly.

Mum nods her head, before she lets out a laugh. "I know, but I'm just so overwhelmed. My beautiful daughter Allison is here, you two are getting along, the news we're telling her later on. I'm just so happy and proud, I'm bloody forty-four and I've got the most magical news to tell" She said to him before glancing at me.

Raising an eyebrow, I look at her. "What 'magical' news?" I ask them.

Mum and Carter glance at each other and they smile. "We will tell you later on, go get ready. It's nearly seven, we made reservations for eight o'clock, hurry up now" She said before grabbing my suitcase and we rush up the stairs. Mum shows me to her bedroom, the minute she opens the door I gasp, my room is astounding.

My bed from the old house is layed out in the middle of the room, with a cabinet to its right, a slide door wardrobe to its left, a desk near the window showing off the view of the amazing garden, and a makeup table with a chair to sit on. Fairy lights are hung above the double bed, and it tugs at my heart. "You kept the bed?" I ask mum.

She beams with pride and smiles. "Of course I did, whatever made you doubt?" She asks me, raising an eyebrow she walks over to the bed and sighs to herself.

I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know, last time I was living in the old house was five years ago. You moved here two years ago, I wasn't involved. I guess everything is a shock to me, moving house, getting a new boyfriend, a new jobs. It's very overwhelming to be honest mum, but we only have an hour to get ready so I will" I reply to her.
