We collected everything from our lockers and then walked down the hall towards the front door.
" So I just wanted to say thanks. That could have been a lot worse and my parents would kill me." I said as we walked out the doors.
" Its fine and I am glad I could help. Though you could not get in trouble in the first place." She laughed. I nudged her to the side and we continued home.
We were at the corner of the next road when Saphire looked at me with worry on her face. It had gone slightly pale but her cheeks were a bright red.
" Is something wrong?" I asked. She looked away swiftly and put a smile on her face.
" Nothing is wrong Skyla, but I do have a question for you though." She began to cross the road with a faster pace.
" Sure. Go for it." I said catching up to her.
" I was just wondering why you have been acting differently over the last day or so? You seem a little worried and or stressed." She looked at me and forced a smile on her face.
" Honestly I don't know. I think it is like you said stress or something." I looked at the houses on our right. I was looking for my house as we became closer to it with each step. I think it was because some how I felt unconfutable in having this conversation, but I didn't even know why.
" Oh well have you talked with your family about how you are feeling?" She asked waving her body side to side as we came up to the gate at the front of my house.
" No but I think they have noticed for themselves. They called me home because of it actually. Do you remember the day that I went home before school because my mom called me?" I said looking at her as we both stopped in front of the gate.
" Ya I do remember that. Though you never actually told me what that was all about." She raised an eyebrow and looked at me intently.
" Well they kept saying something about me but I couldn't really understand what they were saying. Also they kept asking me all kinds of questions." I opened the gate and walked through but Saphire stopped me and looked around as if to see if anyone was watching us.
" Hey Skyla is it ok if I real quick come in and ask your parents a question?" She asked with a serious tone in her voice.
" Ya um sure." I was not sure why she needed to talk to my parents but I had n problem with it. Plus I was confused and I wanted to see what she was going to talk with them about.
" Ok thanks!" She squeezed past me and ran up to the front door and then quickly opening it and running inside. She was in such a hurry that she even forgot to close the door after she ran in.
I closed the gate and with a fast pace I walked up to the front door and walked into the house. I closed the door behind me and dropped my backpack on the floor next to the door. Then I walked toward the talking in the living room. I heard Saphire talking with my mom and dad about something that sounded important. I leaned against the wall that was next to the living room out of sight so I could listen to what they were saying.
" Saphire look we know that she has a right to know about her history, but for one we never thought she would be one of them and second she would never actually believe that kind of thing. We just saw the signs and we have been meaning to tell her, but we were waiting for a good time to tell her." My dad said in a clam tone, but I could hear the hint of panic in his voice.
" I can try to understand you, but now would be a good time to tell her." Saphire sounded like she was giving my parents advise witch surprised me.
" Why do you think this is the best time?" My mom asked.
" Well for one since we have noticed she is one of them others may see it to. Second she is listening over at the entrance listening to us anyway." I could hear everyone shift to look over toward the entrance. How did she know that I was listening, I mean I didn't move or make a single noise?
" Skylar come here." My mom said softly. I could hear her take a deep breath. I walked into the room and stood next to Saphire. I looked at my parents and I crossed my arms.
" So what are you even talking about. I got lost at the beginning of what I heard." I was confused and I finally was going to get answers.
" Well its about how you have been feeling, and also how you have been acting." My mom patted her hand on the couch and looked at me.
" We think you should sit down though. You may not exactly believe us." Saphire said and I sat down.
