A/N: This is a semi- long chapter! Yay!
"AMELIA ROSE WILLIAMS!" My dad roared, snapping me out of my blissful sleep. My mind automatically raced with everything I had done within the last 24 hours that might upset him. Then, it hit me: the guy that tried to kill me last night was on the couch, and to make matters worse, he still had his weapons on him.
I darted out of the room and my dad was standing there gesturing at the guy sitting on the couch looking like a lost puppy.
"I can explain." I told him.
"Wait. Before you do, let the popcorn finish, this explanation is gonna be good." My aunt laughed.
"Aunt Lizzie." I groaned. I mouthed I'm sorry to the man and he shrugged as if to say it was no big deal.
"One second!" She exclaimed, staring at the popcorn happily. The microwave rang out signalling the popcorn was done and she jumped up with glee. She pulled the popcorn out and opened it up, then, she turned to me. "Okay, hit me with the story." She took a seat on one of the stools by the counter.
"Um, well you see-"
"My family was attacked last night. I managed to get the weapons away from the killers so they couldn't hurt me, but I couldn't see their faces in the dark and they ran before I could do anything. I came to the nearest place with its light on and Amy was just nice enough to answer. I insisted on sleeping with the weapons by my side out of fear. I couldn't stay in the place where my family was murdered and I didn't have anywhere else to go." The man explained almost lazily.
"I- uh- yeah, that."
Even my aunts jaw dropped.
"Well, okay then." My dad rubbed the back of his neck, flustered. I think we were all expecting some sort of punishment. "What's your name son?"
His eyes widened and he looked at me, but I was just as freaked out as he was.
"His name is James!" I exclaimed a little too enthusiastically.
"I was hoping he could answer for himself, Amy. Well, James, you're welcome to stay as long as you need. Have you reported the murders?"
"Yes, sir." He nodded.
"Good."
"Well, your father and I are going to go grocery shopping." My aunt told us, grabbing my dad's arm and practically dragging him towards the door.
"What? We went grocery shopping yes-"
He was interrupted by my aunt punching him hard in the arm.
"Fine. If I catch you two-"
"Dad." I sighed. "Go."
"You better not do anything with him. I swear he'll be out of the house faster than you can snap your fingers."
"Dad! Leave the premises!"
"I'm going, I'm going!"
The door slammed shut and I sighed. "I'm sorry about them."
"It's fine." He smiled. "So, James, huh?"
"Yeah, it popped in my head and I decided telling him that was better than everyone sitting there staring at each other. Plus, you look like a James."
"Yeah, I like it. It works."
I grinned at him for a moment before I shook myself out of it. "I'm so sorry, I never even offered any clothes. God, my manners are just out the window as soon as a hot guy walks in."
"You think I'm hot?"
"Shit. You weren't meant to hear that."
"No, it's fine."
I groaned and raked my fingers through my hair. "This day is turning out to be great!" I exclaimed sarcastically then sighed.
"I'll pull out some of my dad's clothes. Then, maybe, whoever sent you to kill me, won't find you because you'll look different." I suggested then shrugged. "I don't know, it's an idea and it keeps you from wearing the same clothes all the time."
"Thanks."
"It's no big deal. It's the least I can do after you decided not to kill me."
I pulled out my dad's clothes and brought them to the living room. "Pick whatever you'd like. Then, we'll go walk around and I can tell my dad we went to your place and got the clothes and it's purely coincidental that they look like his while his are missing."
He laughed. "Thanks again."
"I'll even turn around like a proper gentleman." I told him and he laughed again.
He got changed and I turned around, trying to be the better person and not stare at him in the television screen.
"Okay." He said and I turned around.
"Wow, dad's clothes fit you better than they fit him."
He smirked. "I'll take that as a compliment."
"You should. You've seen my dad. I love him to death, but he's formed a beer belly."
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "Yeah, I can see that."
"Well, I gotta go get dressed and then we can go."
I headed back to my room and sighed as I closed the door. James was cute, don't get me wrong, but I sucked at relationships. My longest being three months before I found out the guy was cheating on me. I shook my head. This is what hot guys do to my brain, one minute they're trying to kill me the next I'm thinking about dating them.
I smacked my head. I barely even knew him. Well, to be fair, he barely even knew himself. I groaned. It was like a tug of war was going on in my head.
Eventually, I decided that I couldn't stress about it now. I had bigger things to worry about. If anything is going to happen, it will.
"Uh, Amy?" James called from the living room as I was getting dressed.
I put on a black tank top, some ripped shorts, and a cardigan. "Yeah?"
I put on some white sneakers and grabbed my bag and walked out the door.
"Your friend is here!"
My eyes widened and I ran down the hall to the living room to find Madison with her arms folded, tapping her foot and glaring at me.
"Lucy, you got some 'splainin to do!" She wagged her finger at me and I held back laughter because I knew the glare she was giving me was real
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." I sighed.
"Try me." She smirked.
