I opened up the door to see two of my favorite people standing there. Although, Brendon could barely be seen behind the tall giraffe that stood in the way. And by tall giraffe, I wasn't referring to Dallon. At first I couldn't register who it was standing there. I didn't recognize them at first.
But when I finally realized, I let out a scream. In shock I placed my hand over my lips, and took a few steps back.
"Gabe?" I managed to get out, and the man tilted his head to the side.
"Do I kno..-" He began, but then he realized who he was looking at as well. His eyes widened in pure shock as he exclaimed, "Holy shit- Gabrielle!"
He took a long step in and wrapped his arms around me, and I jumped up to wrap my arms around his neck. He was just as tall as he had been back in high school, if not taller now. Seems like everyone had been growing at the height except for Brendon. Poor guy.
I smiled widely as Gabe spun me around once, before setting me back down on the floor. I couldn't find the right words to speak, and just shook my head as a wide smile was plastered on my lips. My gaze travelled over to look at Dallon who grinned, obviously proud over himself for reuniting us.
Gabe soon enough noticed the grin on his face as well, and walked up beside him. "Dude, I know you want to keep this precious diamond a secret, but you should have told me sooner." He said with an arm wrapped around his shoulders as he lead Dallon inside.
I could feel a blush creeping over my cheeks, but thankfully Brendon saved me by walking over and giving me a hug as well. I smiled, not willing to let go for a while. It felt odd, but absolutely amazing, to be reunited with this group of people that I'd had to leave behind in my younger days.
Me and Brendon finally pulled back, and he and Gabe headed into the kitchen, leaving me and Dallon alone. I watched them go, before I turned to look up into the beautiful eyes of the taller man. How could I be so lucky to have gotten him back in my life? I kept asking myself that, but I still didn't know. Perhaps I didn't need to.
Before he could say anything, I jumped up and wrapped my legs and arms around him, sighing in content as I rested my head on his shoulder. His arms snaked around my waist and held me close, his head resting against the side of mine.
"I missed you," I muttered into his shirt after a few minutes of silence.
"I missed you too." He said quietly, but I could feel him smiling and pulled back to look him in the eyes.
I moved my hand and rested it on the side of his cheek, a smile on my lips. All of a sudden it was like I had nothing to worry about. Like it all had been washed away, just by being in the presence of Dallon. It was just that, the calmness he spread around himself and to others that made me wonder if this man was actually human.
The doorbell suddenly rang, and Brendon popped out of the kitchen. His eyes widened slightly as he saw us, but was quickly replaced with a grin. "Get a room, you two." He said and shook his head, before walking past us to get the door.
I chuckled along with Dallon and he placed me down onto my feet again. Together we walked into the kitchen, and was met by Gabe bringing drinks and snacks to the already set table. A few minutes after the three of us had taken a seat, Brendon joined us again and we immediately started eating.
It felt unreal to be reunited with all of them. I couldn't imagine the universe ever being this kind, and wondered what I'd done to deserve this. I looked over at Dallon sitting next to me, and he was staring at Brendon, laughing at some joke he just pulled. But me, I couldn't hear it. The rest of the world had faded out, and all I could focus on was Dallon. He looked over at me and smiled, and I smiled back.
Slowly, while turning my head back to the other boys, I snaked my hand under the table and found Dallon's hand. I intertwined our fingers, before glancing over at him to see him hide a big grin that spread over his lips using his hand.
The rest of the night went on smoothly, and soon enough we had ended up on the couch watching some action movie that Gabe had found and begged for us all to watch together. While everyone else was focused on the movie, me and Dallon had a hard time focusing on anything else than each other. I sat curled up next to him with my arms wrapped around his waist and my head resting in the crook of his neck.
I could hear his heart beating, slowly, gently. He was at peace, and so was I. For the first time since we last parted ways, I felt as if things were going to work out. For real, this time.
I never wanted this night to end, mostly because it was an excuse for me to be close to Dallon again. But as all good things do, this night moved towards its ending and as the end credits rolled up on the television screen in front of us, me and Dallon instinctively distanced ourselves from each other. It was past 12 am already, and I wondered out loud where the hell time had gone. The boys laughed at that as I followed them to the front door and we said our goodbyes.
Me and Gabe exchanged numbers, just so that we'd be able to stay in contact. Brendon gave me a hug and thanked for the awesome night. Dallon was the last one to say goodbye, and he did so by embracing me in a tight hug and pressing his lips to my cheek.
"I'll see you soon, okay?" He whispered into my ear, and I nodded.
"Of course." I said, before we pulled back from the hug.
I smiled to myself as I watched them leave, waving them off, before their cars disappeared down the road and I finally closed to door.
