Ariana's pov

I heaved breathlessly, losing my breath as I am tossed through a sweaty crowd. Reminds me of my first mosh pit. The police had arrived, just when the party was getting good. Or did they? I spot the pot stash, unattended as chaos consumes the basement. There's hundreds of people ruthlessly pushing past each other, school spilling everywhere, with some people not even waiting to put their shoes. Samantha asked me to accompany her to a college party, but is nowhere to be found. I don't want to leave without her, but I can't get arrested, especially with what I'm about to do.

Making sure no one's watching me, I kneel down and shove a couple of eights into my jacket. I can't tell if its my heart or music causing the pounding feeling in my chest, and I'm frozen. I see a sheet of acid. Don't do it, I tell myself, despite the fact that I'm reaching towards it.

"Ariana, what the fuck are you doing? Are you kidding me? We have to go! NOW!" Samantha thrusts me up by the arm and we go through the basement window. I struggle after her to lift myself out. The moment we do, she sniffs me. "I am not getting caught with you!"

"You're the one who dragged me to come with you. Do what you want but I'm cutting through the woods," I say bluntly, turning on my heel. I hear her call after me that it's too dark, but I don't care. After a few minutes I slowed down to a jog, trying to catch my breath. No cops saw me head into the woods, and I'm practically home free. Luckily, I kept it sober during the party and only drank water bottles. I basically came so Samantha wasn't alone, and I don't trust drinks from strangers. But if I was a drunken mess, that'd be a different story.

I continued strolling through the woods, admiring the full moon. All I had to do was make it to Selena's house—where my parents thought I was sleeping over. I hope Selena makes it home her boyfriend's, or we'll both get caught.

I froze, my heart rate rising again once I heard leaves crunching. Am I caught?

"Leave me alone!" A guy, Highschool age like me, shouts, barely a couple yards away. I crouch behind a grove, and poke my head out to watch. Do I call 911? Shit, if I have to, I'm fucked!

I stayed silent while observing his features. He's a perfect blonde, but his whimpering cries show he's shitless. I swear I stopped breathing, and my heart stopped pumping. This can't be real.

Two creatures tower over him, snarling and growling like wild beasts. I could make out fangs on one of them. It held its arm up in the air, the moonshine casting over the distorted figure. It had a body lined with hair, but stood on two feet. There were nails extending far beyond its finger tips, sharpened to a lethal edge. Tears stream down my face as I watch, emotionless and numb at the scene. My brain does nothing, no processing, just panicking.

"P-Please, don't hurt me, fuck!" The boy pleaded, letting out a moan of pain as fingernails sunk into the back of his neck. "My first fucking party..." I hear him mutter, sounding defeated and shaken, preparing for his last moments.

Shit. He had the same idea as me. Fuck, will these things smell my pot? Can they smell me? Do they already know I'm watching? Am I next? I have to run, now. But for a moment, I feel as if I'm watching myself in this horror scene

The curly haired one glared down at the frightened blonde, his eyes glowing an unnatural blue. They where not the same as the blonde's, his eyes were darker and glowed vibrantly. Every monster I've ever heard off sends chills through my stomach. Yeti, big foot, Chewbacca, vampires for all I know, could be yard before me. It was a frigid cold in this dead of night, but my fear still somehow brought drops of sweat to my hands and heat to my face. I could feel my caged heart begging to be let out. Every inch of my body was screaming at my to do something, to be a hero. Instead, I was frozen. I felt like a deer in the headlights. I felt so helpless, letting fear control me.

One of the creatures howls, and the world pans in on me like a movie.

The boy withered in pain, his whines lacing a trail of chills down my spine. Suddenly, they go rabid, clawing away at him. They've virtually shredded his face. The crack of his bones are too much for my, and I have to cover my mouth not to scream, but my eyes were open and I was unmoving.

Suddenly, everything stopped. But to me, time was still frozen. I can barely see when he breaks the silence with a cry for help. I reach for my phone, and I look at the screen, but I see nothing. It's like the whole world's shaking and I'm floating.

The pair of snarling animals grip the blonde's arms and lifted him up, causing him to emit a string of groans and whines. They blend into the darkness of the woods, though I could still hear the blonde's fading whimpers.

I blindlessly walk in the other direction. My thoughts are still racing, but after a while, I can see again. My feet take off running until I reach the road. Selena calls, and I pick up.

"Ariana? Hey, my boyfriends driving me home, Samantha told me you ran from the cops with tons of weed on you?! I thought we don't let it go to waste, the night is still young."

At the moment, my brain is a prison cell. I stare into the darkness. She asks after moments of silence, "Hello?"

"Um, okay, your locations still shared with me. Wait there, okay?"

Again, I say nothing, and soak in the guilt.
