First term of this school year I was in a class called Interpersonal Communications. If you don't know what that means, it's a class on how to be a better communicator with all different types of people. The opposite gender being included.
My best friend, he has a tendency to something that is known as the cave. Meaning when he's upset, he backs away and tends to not speak much. It's a simple giveaway as to knowing when something's wrong. But it's frustrating nonetheless. However, in this class we learned to let a men go to his cave and not to bother him.
Most women will continue to push and ask a man what is wrong. Their intentions are always good, they're just trying to uncover what the issue is so they can try and resolve it. Men do something similar. When a woman is upset, they will stop at nothing to try and make them feel better. But sometimes women just need their space. It's the same for men.
So when a women is constantly nagging at the man to tell all, they will experience the wrath of The Dragon. Meaning the man will become fed up and completely snap. They'll yell and scream and then eventually leave to their cave. The woman is left not knowing what she's done wrong, she was just trying to help.
After that class I learned to back off at the first sign of something being wrong. It's done good, trust me. Because most often than none, the male I'm speaking with will eventually come back later and tell me when he's ready. However, it's tough. To just stop. Just stop speaking and walk away, leaving them be.
Tonight I clearly know something is wrong. It's the short-response scenario with my best friend. So I decided to leave him be but make sure he knows I'm always here.
He does it quite often, just shuts himself out. Doesn't ever want to talk about what's wrong. Being the kind of person I am, I always feel compelled to help others. No matter what the situation be, I feel entitled to fix the problem. But there's nothing you can do when it comes to my best friend.
You just have to let him go to his cave.
And wait.
