Jenna you moron!

Why the fuck would you say that? He's got a girlfriend!

Yes, yes, yes. He does have a girlfriend, and he is completely head over heels for her. Meaning, he would politly refuse and you'll have a moment of painfully awkward silence and then move on as if nothing has happened.

Right?

"Yeah. That would be nice."

Fuck you, Calum.

...

"Hi." He stood at her front porch, scratching the back of his neck.

"Hello." She tried to smile back, but it came off as though the sides of her mouth were twitching aggressivly.

He looked quite unsettled himself. And he was wondering why he agreed to it in the first place. They weren't that close. In matter of fact, most of their interactions happened at the windows of their bedrooms, where they would ask each other how their days went and then wish each other a good evening. And that was pretty much it.

Yes, they would hang out with the same group of people sometimes at school, but they didn't exactly talk to each other.

It was quite strange. There had been a couple of years where they wouldn't even greet each other. Not because they had a fight, but because they were at different schools. Calum moved back into the same school as Jenna's the previous year, and since then their relationship has gotten somewhat better.

"Well, come in." Jenna finally snapped out of her thoughts.

...

It was such a bad idea. No, actually that wasn't even an idea. You weren't thinking!

Jenna continued to scold herself. They had been sitting for ten minutes in silence, aside from when he asked for some water.

"So, do you want to come up on the roof?" Oh for the love of God, Jenna! Just stop suggesting things.

"Sure, why not?"

"Okay then. Help me hold this." She pointed towards an extremely large bean bag.

...

"Huh, it's quite a nice view." Calum remarked as they finally made it to the roof.

"What are you talking about? It's just some suburban houses. Plus, don't you see the exact same things from your own roof?" Chill, will you? She mentally facepalmed herself.

"The sky, Jenna. I was talking about the sky." It was a nice, starry night.

They sat on the comfortable bean bag which was not so comfortable when two people tried to sit on it while keeping a decent space between each other.

And it was as if the change of setting sparked an easy-flowing conversation between the two. He asked her about her soccer practice, since she was the captin of the school team. And she asked him about his band.

She went on and on about her enthusiasm for the upcoming match. And he didn't bother to hide his excitement for the band's new radio interview. His bandmates and him have been trying to get a proper record deal for two years but, it just wouldn't happen. So they stuck with garage practices, small gigs in unknown bars, and if they were very lucky, they would get to perform on the radio.

Jenna was happy for him. His band deserved a lot more success, she would always tell him that. And she would always go to their shows. Not just because of him, but because of a certain lead singer that had the ability to turn her life from a living hell to a fucking paradise, and vice versa, in the matter of seconds.

And somehow, the conversation stirred towards him.

"So, the whole thing with you and Luke is over now?" She asked warily. Calum may be very nice to her most of the time, but he also had a very bad temper. She didn't want to upset him.

"Not exactly."

"Erm, what happened between you two anyway?" She was desperate to know what happened between the bassist and the lead singer. But nobody at school seemed to know the whole story, and she wasn't on the best of terms with Luke currently, so who's better than her neighbour to fill her in about what happened.

"It's a long story."
