That moment of silence definitely ended quickly, because the day after my BFF had once again nothing to do but call me all day long. That little shit... I thought he had grown up.
Anyway, after a full week of that boy hanging onto my neck and making me unable to breathe normally, I was absolutely fed up with his behaviour. It was Monday. I reminisced the days when I happily jumped around the store, doing my job without a care in the world, but precisely one week before someone decided to dump a bunny in front of my doorstep and let me take care of its sharp teeth. I did the best I could, but I had promised myself to take certain measures when Jungkook called me again without trying to find me. And wow that happened sooner than I even expected him to. Fifteen minutes after I had checked in. I think that was a new record.
After I helped the customer I walked up to Jungkook who was organizing all the toys, or at least... it looked like he was for any passerby.
"Jungkook."
The boy looked up at me, that damn innocent look on his face. It was annoying.
"I'll just get to the point..."
"Yeah sure..." Jungkook said strangely and stood up straight, turning himself to me.
"Dare to call me once again without doing the effort of finding me or helping the customer and I will..."
"You will what?" Jungkook chuckled, his voice slightly mocking me.
"I will get rid of this phone, so you can call me as much as you want, but I won't even hear the ringing."
Jungkook's face was immediately in panic mode. "Ani! You can't do that! I might need you for real."
I chuckled humorlessly. "So you admit that you didn't actually need me all those times you called me?"
"That's not what I meant... I'm just saying..."
"Chinsang!"
I cringed, but turned around to our boss, luckily the real one and not the stupid witch.
"Yes?"
"I'm so sorry, but today is going to be a tough day", he began.
I nodded. It actually already was...
"Seungri is sick."
"What?" I asked shocked.
"And Jongdae's is on vacation from this week."
"No", I whined.
"Yes... so there is no one in the section for school anymore and I have five deliveries which need to be done by this week."
"What? Five!" I asked with big eyes. He couldn't mean this, right?
"You're responsible for both the school section and playthings for as long as Seungri is sick. I have another two deliveries for the toys as well. I'll give these seven to you. I trust you. You can do this."
The boss walked away after handing me the deliveries and I felt like crying. I let my head drop, feeling a sudden immense pressure on my shoulders. I didn't know what to do first. I looked at the papers in my hands. The deliveries were amazingly long, definitely the ones for school. I would do a whole day just finishing one. I also had to put them all in the rows or put them away in the storage room... oh man, the storage room was absolutely full. How would I fit that in there? Definitely the new stuff?
"Chinsang?" Jungkook asked softly behind me.
I stood with my back facing him, but turned my head to him a little.
"Please... don't call me", I said softly. I walked away quickly towards the desk, but noticed someone was following me.
I put the papers on the desk and sighed heavily, letting my head drop once more.
"Chinsang..." Jungkook said worriedly. I looked up at him weirdly when hearing his voice. Why was he worried all of a sudden? "Let me help you." He looked so serious.
I just huffed. "Help me? You?" I let out a short humorless laugh. "Right, because you've been such a great colleague this last week."
"Chi-"
"You doubled my work instead of taking half of it! You've been nothing but a complete burden. You can't do anything without screwing up and you don't know anything without calling me! I would have less work if you just left." I was obviously pissed.Jungkook came over to my side of the desk. He spun me around and pressed me against it, his hands had a firm grip on my wrists. It shocked me to no extend. What did he think he was doing?
"I hate this job, but I can see how stressed you are at this moment. What they did was not right. It's impossible for you to keep that up and I just want to help. I can do this pathetic job with ease, I just haven't been trying."
"You're a loner... You don't like anyone around here, why would you help me all of a sudden? Shouldn't you be a troll and screw things up even more and then laugh at my misfortune? You say that it's not right that the boss gives me all this work, but he gave me this job because he thinks you help me. Don't blame other people for something that is your fault."
"But I will help you! Look, I owe you for last time and I don't like that. Let me help. I'll do my work good, you just tell me what to do and trust me on this."
"Why would I trust you?" I asked angrily.
"I don't like seeing you like this."
My eyes widened in disbelief. Why did he act as he cared all of a sudden?!
The boy cleared his throat awkwardly and avoided looking at me at all costs. "It's not as if I like seeing you at all or anything like that... but you're the only person who doesn't want me to throw nasty remarks at them when I see them, probably because I'm fed up here working with you and I only care about keeping this job if I can annoy the crap out of you in the meantime. How can I annoy you when you're all pissed off and stressed out. My god, girls are so..."
I sighed and tried to get out of his grip. "You're a jerk, just fucking let me go."
"I'll help you, Chinsang-ah! For real, I will! Just trust me. I'll finish the two deliveries for this section today for certain and then I'll come up to you and you can give me any job you want to get rid off. I'll help you. That's why I am here, right? And I won't screw up, I swear."
"Let me go", I said pissed off.
Jungkook slowly released his grip and held his hands up in defense. I sighed deeply and looked at all the deliveries.
"Fine... You do these two then. You know how it works."
I took the other five and wanted to go over to the school section, but turned to Jungkook again after a few steps.
"Jungkook."
The boy looked up at me expectantly.
"If you dare screw up, I will hunt you down with the first deadly weapon I can find in this store."
Jungkook chuckled and nodded. "Deal."
"Oh and just to be clear. We have a kitchen department nearby." This made the 'poor' boy swallow nervously. I threw him a 'friendly' smile and walked away. "Fighting!"
I was pissed off because of the nerves the whole day and Jungkook was absolutely not helping to get my mood up at all. He ended the two deliveries a bit before noon, so like he suggested I gave him any job I wanted to get rid off and I noticed he got grumpier by the minute because of it.
