After work, I happily walked out of the building. So, so happy. It had been an exhausting day, yet too short. I could've used some more hours. I went up to my bike, not really concentrating on anything else but my footsteps.
"Eh, excuse me", I heard a male voice call out.
I looked up bewildered. A young man was walking up to me. He had nice, stylish, black hair and a rather long face, but it fit him. Apart from that he had a nice body as well. He was actually really handsome.
"Can I help you?" I asked surprised.
I was used to people talking to me while I was working, but socializing with strangers became a lot harder once I took a step outside that door.
"You work here, right?"
"Yeah, but the store is closing", I said as friendly as humanly possible for me when I was actually irritated.
"I know that. I was here to pick up my dongsaeng. Normally he leaves quite early, but not today."
"Well, then he's just finishing up. He'll be there any second."
"Aren't you the last to leave? You're almost fifteen minutes late."
"I was just finishing up like a lot of my colleagues. And I'm not last. See? As long as there are customers coming out of that door, as long as there are people inside and we only have that many cash registers."
"He's just a student, he doesn't do that kind of work."
I narrowed my eyes. A male student, someone who's normally eager to leave.
"What's his name?"
"Jeon Jungkook."
I let out a chuckle. "Well, that is indeed rare, maybe he got lost laughing at the security cameras."
The boy looked at me surprised. "Do you know him?"
"Unfortunately. I haven't seen him when I checked out. I did give him a lot of work today, but he's not the type to stick around and finish it up..."
"You understand my worry now?"
"No", I just answered. "I don't really care that much about him. Wait, are you one of his six hyungs who forces him to work here?" The boy was surprised yet again, but then moved his head in a weird way, I wasn't sure whether he was nodding or shaking his head saying 'no'. "He hates it, get him to quit. I hate it as well."
The boy looked at his watch and started jumping a little. "Okay, it's been almost twenty minutes. Something must've happened." Without another word he walked in the direction of the store, I quickly followed him.
"Wait a minute! Sir! You cannot just do that!"
The boy walked in using the backdoor, what was, of course, not allowed, but he obviously didn't care. Now I knew where Jungkook got his manners from. He looked around bewildered while I caught up with him and I almost immediately saw Hyeri and Jungkook standing in one of the offices. Jungkook looking down to the ground, Hyeri was almost red from anger scolding him.
I walked up to them, the other boy immediately noticed me and followed.
"What's going on here?" I asked surprised.
Hyeri looked at me, Jungkook didn't budge.
The girl sighed and pointed at Jungkook. "This little shit", she spat angrily. "decided to discover our system while he was scanning some items, totally making a mess out of it. Then, of course, Bomi had to use that thing right after and she tried to fix it, but knowing her and her computer skills she made it worse and I got scolded by the boss' wife. I don't even know why, probably because I'm responsible for Bomi, so now he's getting it from me, because I'm soooo frustrated with this!" she directed herself to Jungkook again. "You punk!!! Why the fuck did you get me involved in this!?!! Why didn't you get the blame instead of me, you annoying little -"
"Don't talk to him like that", I said totally irritated. Hyeri looked up surprised. I walked up to them and pushed Jungkook behind me protectively. "Look... maybe he just made a mistake, he always tells me that he can't lose this job, so why would he 'discover our system'? Come on, unni, it's only his second week working here, failure and mistakes are guaranteed. You've worked here for a long time, so you probably don't remember, but everyone has a hard time here at first. I can't believe you've been standing here for twenty minutes just scolding him for what has happened, how much do you have to say? Another thing... it's not his fault you got scolded by the creepy boss, he didn't wear a sign on his forehead saying 'scold me, not Hyeri'. And remember this for if something happens again: if you have something to complain about and you are unable to talk normally to him about it, then you come to me instead. He's my responsibility. I give him work, so everything that goes wrong in the meantime is on me. Got that?" I never talked like that to someone who worked here before. I was being disrespectful and I knew that, but she was exaggerating. I bowed to try and reduce the damage I caused a little. "I'm very sorry for the inconvenience", I then tried. "but this is on me."
I turned around. Jungkook was looking at me with big, wide eyes.
"A-Ani... Chinsang, it's my fault."
"Shut up", I just said. I turned him around, pushed him slightly and followed him out of the office. The other boy caught up quickly. I then took the lead and walked outside, expecting them to follow me.
"That was... wow", the other boy said a little shocked.
"Hoseok hyung... what are you doing here?" Jungkook asked surprised, suddenly aware of the presence of his hyung.
"Picking you up, you took so goddamn long. Luckily I talked to this lady instead of anyone else. Thank her, she saved your ass."
Jungkook nodded quickly, turned to me and bowed. "Thanks, Chinsang."
I nodded as response. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah."
"Good... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU??!! YOU LITTLE SHIT!!" I then started yelling at him. Jungkook, who still looked a little shocked a few seconds ago, then began to laugh softly.
"Really, Chinsang, thanks a lot. I know I've been annoying you like crap ever since I arrived here, but you have always protected me the best you could... You must really have a crush on me, huh?" he smirked.
"Get out of my sight before I pull your hair out", I said deadly serious.
Jungkook laughed and started walking away with a shocked hyung next to him. "I'll buy you lunch tomorrow!"
"Fuck off!" I growled.
