"So I ran into Joe today," Demi said to Selena. They were sitting in a high-end salon, getting our nails done.
"What?!" Selena said looking up from her phone. "No way! What happened?!"
"Well," Demi replied looking at her. "I was on my way to a meeting in the studio, and he was there. I recognized him, and said his whole name -- I don't know why -- and he recognized me, said my whole name and I don't know, we just...started talking like we were old best friends."
"Wait, so it wasn't awkward at all?" Selena raised her eyebrow.
"No, I know it should have been, but it wasn't. I don't know. It felt like over the past three years all our problems...dissolved."
"Well, I guess it's special, then," Selena said, then mumbled, "If two people are meant to be, it'll all work out."
"What?" Demi looked at her in suspicion.
"Huh? Nothing," Selena replied, putting all her attention onto her phone. "Don't you have a movie date with Sterling tonight?"
"Yeah," Demi smiled at the name of her boyfriend. They had worked with each other on Sonny with a Chance, and Sterling had formed a crush on her. The only problem was that Demi was crushing on Joe and then dating Joe. After the breakup, she still wasn't ready. Now, two years later, Sterling and Demi were still friends and hanging out, and Sterling finally asked her out, and Demi said yes. "I'm so happy with him, Sel. I love him." She explained then covered her mouth.
"DEMI!" Selena looked up from her phone again. "You do?!"
Demi bit her lip. "Yeah, I do."
Selena smiled. She knew that this was important. The last boyfriend Demi said she loved was Joe. It was good to see that she was moving on, but running into Joe couldn't just be a coincidence, could it?
"Hey baby," Sterling greeted Demi as she walked out to his car.
"Hey," she replied, giving him a quick peck on the lips.
"How was that meeting you went to this morning?" he asked as he started driving.
"It was great," Demi said, her thought starting to move to Joe, but she stopped herself, reminding herself she was with her boyfriend, who she loved.
He smiled. "I'm so proud of you, Dems."
"Thanks, Sterling, but I'm proud of you too, Mr. Actor." She giggled.
"Thanks, Superstar." They saw the movie and left without getting noticed. During the movie, they cuddled and Demi thought about how right everything was now. Now they walked up to the porch of Demi's Los Angeles house with Sterling's arm around her waist and Demi snuggled into him. "Tonight was great," he said.
"Yeah, it was," Demi have him a signature smile. "I'm glad no one's found out about us. It makes life so much easier to deal with in Hollywood."
Sterling nodded in agreement. "I'll call you tomorrow, okay?"
"Alright babe," Demi said. Then she looked into his blue eyes, capturing the moment. "Sterling, I love you."
At first, there was silence. Then a smile crept onto his face. "I love you, too. I loved you since we started working together."
She laughed. "When we had to act as Sonny and Chad?"
He nodded, laughing with her. "Yes."
"Good," Demi smiled.
"Good," he smirked, bringing their banter from Sonny with a Chance back.
"Fine," she smirked back.
"Fine," he said, and with that, he leaned down and pressed his lips against hers. Her arms slipped around her waist, pulling her close. After a few seconds, Demi pulled away and mumbled, "don't you have work tomorrow?"
"I don't care," he replied.
She got herself out of his grasp and laughed. "Bye, Sterling."
"Goodbye, Demi," he smiled kissing her cheek.
