cant sleep so here's another update? - k i t

Something I loved about going out with Laf and Hercules, was that it was always fun. Laf knew how to handle their liquor and Hercules... Well Hercules was fun company. We had been at the bar for almost an hour, and I didn't mind it. No one called me ma'am, and I liked it. I took a swig of the beer and I loved the way it felt trickling down my throat. Lafayette and Hercules sat at a table, laughing loudly and talking even louder. The bar was fairly empty and that made them seem even louder, but it was pointless to try and ask them to be quieter.

I sat by myself on a bar stool. I liked sitting by myself. As much as I loved my friends, they could be a little bit of a handful when they were drinking or drunk. But really, anyone could be but I'm glad that they were both my handful. I took another gulp and put the empty bottle on the countertop. "Another?" the bar tender asked. I shook my head.

"Nah, I'm fine thanks." He smiled softly and nodded. I hopped off the stool and started walking towards my friends. The door must've opened because I felt a strong blast of cold air, followed by the solid slam of the door. I turned to face the person who had just walked in. He was tall, taller than me anyway. He was kind of skinny, like scrawny skinny. He had long-ish hair, tied up into a short ponytail on the back of his head.

He walked towards the bar and sat on a stool. He shoes were squeaking as he walked, and his leg was bouncing up and down quickly, like he was nervous. He started talking to the bar tender, but he was too quiet for me to hear anything he said. "Hey lover boy!" Lafayette shouted. I turned red as the stranger turned to me and caught me staring at him. He gave me a smile and I laughed nervously, turning around and gripping onto the back of the chair. "Why would you do that Laf?" I asked quietly. Thy laughed.

"Bec-"

"Lower your voice."

"You were staring, mon amie." I blushed and I could feel the heat on my ears. "Go talk to him," they insisted. I shook my head.

"He's... He's just a very good looking man in a bar that we happen to go to. I... Yeah, okay, c'mon guys, I'm tired," I stammered. I checked my watch and it was only going to be 10:30, but I really was tired. And I didn't want them to pressure me into talking to such a cute guy. "I'd just make a fool of myself," I said.

They both shook their heads. "Be yourself John, you're a great guy. Just go have a nice conversation, we're not telling you to propose," Hercules said. I sighed. But this stranger was very good looking, and I didn't really want him to slip my fingers.

"Okay, okay, but when this ship sinks, we're leaving so no more drinks." They both nodded. I fixed my beanie and my coat and walked over to him and resumed my spot on the bar stool. "Hi, there. I'm, uh, I-I'm John L-Laurens," I introduced. I tried propping my elbow up onto the countertop but missed and slipped downward some, causing the stranger to laugh. His laugh was amazing.

"Hi John. My name is Alexander. Alexander Hamilton," he said. "So... Where are you from? Here?" he asked. I shook my head.

"South Carolina, actually. I came up here for school. What about you?" I admitted.

"Not here. I'm from Charlestown. In the Caribbean. But I came up here for school too. I go to Columbia University. I'm a Law major. You?"

I found myself smiling at him. "Columbia University. History major." He chuckled. "I'm sorry, it isn't really my place, but how old are you? It's just that you look kinda young and you don't have a drink..." I drifted off. And whatever connection we may have come to grow, I just ruined.

"It's okay. I'm 19 actually, I start school after the winter break. Before, I was just at school back in my hometown but I, uh, wanted to get out." I nodded. I totally understood him there.

"I'm 22. I'm going into my junior year here. I think you'll like the university," I smiled. He smiled back.

"Laurens! I'm tired, can we go home?" Laf called out. His voice was slurring words. So much for no more drinks. I gave Alex a soft smile. I wanted to give him my number. A hug. Something.

"Um, uh... I... Th-That's my cue so I... I um... Should get going," I stuttered, almost falling off the bar stool.

"Oh, okay. Well I'll see you around John," he said, smiling. I smiled back and started to blush. I started to walk behind Lafayette and Hercules put the door. Then suddenly Alexander jumped off the stool and ran to me. "Wait John, um... y-you forgot this." He handed me a folded up napkin. I gave him a confused look. But he just kept smiling. "I'll see you around. Oh, and if you ever need help with anything history, just, uh, give me a call."

I nodded and smiled back. "Thanks Alexander," I said.

"Y-You can just call me Alex, you know," he blushed. God, could this guy get any cuter. So I waved goodbye and walked behind a drunk Lafayette and Hercules, trying to support his friend.

"How'd all the talking go?" Hercules asked. I shrugged.

"Alright, I suppose. He's a law major at the university, so maybe I'll see him around campus." I said, taking the napkin he'd given me out and unfolding it.

Give me a call sometime

He'd written out his number below and I started smiling, grinning from ear to ear.
