(A/v) I literally wrote this chapter on paper until I could write it on Wattpad. I was about to die if I didn't. Maria please don't kill me. Sorry people I'm just kind of mad at everything right now so some things will sound really spiteful and rude so sorry in advance.

John's POV I kept looking around for more Elites because there's never just one. A stick broke behind me and I turned around and didn't see anything. I kept walking forward when I heard big, loud footsteps walking towards me. An Elite ran up to me with a fully charged plasma sword. "Nine." I whispered as I shot it in the head. It fell to the ground. I heard a growl behind me and I turned around to getting stabbed with an Elites sword. The burning like what usually happens didn't start. Instead, I felt blood rising up my throat. I coughed and blood spilled out of my mouth. It dripped from the holes in my mouthpiece and down onto the covenant's hand. Shit, that was real. The simulation faded and I hit the ground. I looked at my jacket, it had blood all over it. Memphis ran in and I coughed again. "Cortana! Get everyone up and tell Daryl to call the hospital, now!" She looked at me and walked over. I could tell she was scared but she was trying not to show it. "I need you to take your jacket off for me, can you do that?" I nodded and leaned up against the wall and threw my bloody jacket aside. I looked at my shirt and my arm, they were both covered in blood. I coughed again and reached for my dog tags. Memphis breathed out through her nose hard and looked down. I kept coughing up blood and I went to pull my tags. "Oh no, kid. You're not dying today. Memphis, help him outside there's an ambulance waiting." She looked at me and faintly smiled. "Yes ma'am. Come on John." I kept leaning on the wall but got up. Memphis wrapped my arm around her shoulders and helped me out of the room. "Son of a bitch!" I screamed moving the wrong way. Memphis looked at me then ahead toward the ambulance outside. When we got outside Rachel grabbed my arm and pulled me into the van.

Memphis's POV "Cortana! Get everyone up and tell Daryl to call the hospital, now!" I ordered looking at John. I could see the blood dripping down his neck from where I'm assuming his mouth. I walk over trying not to look scared. I don't think it was working very well, but at least I'm trying. "I need you to take your jacket off for me, can you do that?" John nods and leans up against the wall, and takes off his jacket. I hold back the screams when I saw John's arm and his white shirt turned almost completely red. Blood was running down his arm onto the floor. He coughed and reached for his tags. I breathed out hard and looked down. This is breaking my heart. "Oh no, kid. You're not dying today. Memphis, help him outside there's an ambulance waiting." I look up to see Rachel. I look at John and smile of relief. "Yes ma'am. Come on John." He nodded and kept leaning on the wall but stood up. I stood up and put John's arm over my shoulder. I help him out of the room and before we get to the door John stumbles. "Son of a bitch!" He screamed and I looked at him, then back ahead at the ambulance. Rachel grabbed John from me they drove away. I stood there until they were out of my sight, then walked back to base. I walked into the training room and saw the blood on the floor and smeared on the wall. Daryl came in and side hugged me. My eyes start stinging. "No, Spartans don't cry." I say through my teeth. "It's hard, isn't it? Watching friends come and go. Watching them get killed. Not crying when it happens. Having to remember that Spartans never die. Trying not to kill yourself when you know people are counting on you to save them, even though you don't want to go on. War fucks people up." I look at Daryl and he's looking at the bloody wall. "Yeah, I'm pretty fucked up." I whisper. "I'm going to the gym, wanna come? I'll clean this up and meet you there." He looks at me half smiling. I nod and walk off to the gym. I get to the door and Daryl walks up behind me and opens the door for me. I look at him and smile. "Thanks." I say as I walk into the room. I forget Daryl exists for a second when I walk to the punching bag. There was a picture of an Elite on the bag and I totally lose it. All the feelings I held in from Lin, Fred, and now John came flooding out. I brought out my knife and stabbed the bag. I slid down to the floor bringing my knife down with me. I feel like a baby for doing it but I start crying really loud. Daryl walks to my side, takes my knife out of my hands and puts it in my pocket, puts a new bag on the chain and rubs my head messing up my hair. He walks away and closes the door. I lean up against the wall hugging my knees. I half fell asleep and woke up to my phone ringing. I cleared my throat, stood up, and answered. "This is UNSC. Spartan 118 speaking. How may we help." I hate saying that, I sound like a fucking automated system. "Um, yes, are you that little girl who helped Spartan 117 earlier?" The woman over the phone asked. "Yes. What do you need?" I repeated. "He can go back to your base now. We just don't want him walking alone, not that we don't trust him or anything, we just don't want him getting hurt." "I understand. You're just doing your job. I'll be right over to pick him up." "Thank you." I ended the call and almost dropped my phone I was so excited. I ran out of the gym and went to put my jacket on and helmet. I grabbed my pistol, knife, and extra mags like I'm supposed to. I walk downstairs and Daryl was on his phone. "Hey Daryl, cover for me I'm gonna go get John." I said smiling. "Alright, don't take nine years." I rolled my eyes and walked out the door to the hospital. When I got there I went to the receptionist's desk and waited until she came back. There was a marine in a wheelchair hugging his family. I smiled and the marine rolled his chair over to me. He saluted and I stood at attention and saluted back. "What's a pretty little Spartan doing here?" "I'm here to pick up Spartan 117." The marine laughed and looked at me. "At ease cadet, I'm no general." I rested my shoulders and put my hands in my jacket pockets. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened to all the other Spartans?" He asked looking at his family. Oh shit I'm gonna sound like a kid who can't talk. "M-missing in a-action, sir." My voice trembled and I shook my head snapping out of it. "Don't make the poor girl cry, James." The woman said looking at me. I'm not going to cry, Spartans don't cry. "All due respect ma'am, but Spartans are trained not to cry." She shrugged and continued to look at her kids. "Have you found them yet?" My gaze turns back to the marine. I nod my head no. "We report lost Spartans as MIA to show that Spartans never die." I say emotionless, remembering what John taught me. "I'm sorry." He says hitting the button to flip my shield up. "No need, sir. They won't be forgotten." I say looking him holding back tears. He pushes the button controlling my shield to close it. "Ma'am, I can take you over here." I looked over my shoulder and saw the receptionist waving me down. I salute to the marine and he salutes back going over to his family. I walk up to where the receptionist was. "Who will you be visiting today? I will also need your name." She says with the most fake ass smile. "Spartan 118, coming to pick up Spartan 117." I say like I was in front of a general. "Okay, he's down the hall outside room 132." She points to her right and I nod and start looking at the door numbers. "AAAHH!" My hand jumps to a hover over my pistol and look to my side to see a little girl hiding behind her mother pointing at my gun. I sigh and put my hand down. Her mom raises an eyebrow at her kid, takes her hand, and walks over to me. "Say hi, Jessie. She isn't going to hurt you." I knelt down on one knee and lifted my shield. "Hi." She said hiding behind her mom. I wave and stand up and look at her mom. "Sorry, we were just attacked by a psycho and her father got shot. Now she's afraid of anyone with a gun." She apologized looking at her daughter. "No it's okay. I'd be scared too." She smiled and the girl tugged on my sleeve. "What happened to the other one of you?" Jessie asked her head tilted to the side. "He was hurt in training." I said almost emotionless. "Blood was on his shirt and dripping down his arm." I breathed fast and hard out my nose again. Her mom must've seen my reaction because she tugged her girls hand. "Jessie!" She whisper yelled. "No it's okay. He's okay, don't worry." I say shaking my head trying to snap out of it. Her mom starts taking her back to where they were standing and the girl loses her moms grip and gives me a hug. At first I just stand there surprised then I rub her head. "Come on, Jessie." Her mother calls and I stop rubbing the girls head. "Bye!" She said quickly skipping away. I wave and turn around and put my shield back up. I kept walking and saw John. I really want to run up to him and give him a kiss but I know I can't do that. "Spartan 117." I say saluting. "118." John says saluting back. I turn to the doctor that was standing there with John."Thank you." "No problem for our boys in blue." We started walking back and someone behind us screamed. "You're gonna pay for what you let happen to Fred." Oh JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! We can't just be left alone for TWO FUCKING SECONDS! Me and John turn around and see a man with a gun pointed at us. "You let my son get killed! I know I can't take you down but I'll kill everyone else here until your the last ones left and you get crushed under the falling ceiling!" That is the most stupid, irrational thing I've ever heard. "Sir, put the gun down." John said hovering his hand over his pistol. Fred's dad aimed at Jessie and her mom. I stepped in the way as he shot and the bullet grazed past my arm. "Ow." I say through clenched teeth grabbing my arm. "Sir, I won't say it again. Put the gun down." John had his hand on his pistol but hadn't pulled it out of the holster yet. I turned to Jessie and her mom. "Run. Now." I ordered and Jessie's mom nodded and picked up her kid. She started running down the hall when I heard another shot and Jessie's mom fell dead. A doctor ran by and picked the girl up. "Evac." I said and the doctor nodded pushing the red button on the wall. Lights started flashing and a siren blaring. I turned to Fred's dad, cocked and aimed my pistol and moved to pull the trigger.
