Lacey's POV

"How could you even say that The Judge is a better Twenty One Pilots song than House of Gold? How, Lace?" my best friend scolded me. We were walking down the hall to our lockers at school.

"Because it's great. Tyler's true vocal range is shown through the chorus, Mack." I shrugged.

Mackinsey rolled her eyes. "This is the Mrs. Potato Head/ Training Wheels incident all over again."

"Training Wheels is THE greatest Melanie song, too. No question. I'm not having this argument with you again." I spoke as I put in my locker combination before opening the door.

"Fine. Oh hey, Sofia, Alhona, and I are going dress shopping for homecoming after school on Friday. You wanna come? Afterwards, we're gonna have a sleepover at my house, too." She asked me as she closed her locker door and leaned against it.

"Why this week? Homecoming is still like a month away."  I questioned, gathering my things for English Biology, and choir. I shut the locker door and mimicked Mack's stance.

"Bitch, we do whatever the fuck we want to." She grinned as I laughed.

"Yeah, sure. Alright, I'll go." I nodded.

Most girls were already starting to find their dates for homecoming, but my boyfriend hasn't even asked me.

"Has Daniel said anything about homecoming yet?" Mack asked, basically reading my mind.

"No. I don't understand why not. He's been acting kind of weird lately. Notice that he isn't anywhere near me right now, and he usually always walks me to class. It's just not normal." I replied.

"I swear if something's up and I find out, I'm gonna kick his ass." She narrowed her eyes.

"Yup, sounds like something you'd do." I giggled.

"Alright, well, I gotta get to algebra. Ugh, fuck my life. See you later, Lace." She waved me off before walking into the direction of her math class.

I chuckled to myself at her last comment as I started walking to my English class. It was 5th period, and I was really glad the day was basically halfway over. I couldn't wait for lunch.

I felt someone tug my hand back as they intertwined my fingers with theirs.

"Hey, babe." I heard a familiar voice say. I could practically hear the disinterest in his voice. I heard how it was all an act.

But, I was the idiot who pushed that thought away and went with it.

"Hey, Daniel. Where have you been?" I questioned.

"Principal Matthews gave me three days of detention for skipping class." He grinned at his actions.

Everyone thought it was insane that out of every girl at our school, I was the one dating Daniel. I was quiet, and I kept my grades up. I did my homework, and I had never gotten detention in my life.

Daniel was the exact opposite, skipping school, not turning in assignments, getting detention for pretty much every afternoon of the week. He'd had summer school every summer since the 7th grade. He was the biggest trouble maker and prankster in the school.
