That Sunday, Jimin decided to make scrambled eggs for himself. He was up early; it was 9:42, and he was too lazy to put anything on over his boxers. So when Yoongi burst through the door that connected their apartments, Jimin screamed and flung open the pantry, attempting to shut the door on himself. He swore fluently; he had forgotten completely about that stupid door. And of course it had to open right into his kitchen.
"Oh my God, Jimin, did you know that this door was here?" Yoongi exclaimed. "Why are you hiding in the pantry?" He wrenched the pantry door open to reveal Jimin, clad in his boxers, clutching the spatula to his chest like it was the cross of Jesus. Yoongi raised an eyebrow.
"Don't hide, your thighs and abs are fucking hot," Yoongi said. "It's not like you can fit in the pantry, anyway." Jimin sighed in defeat and lowered the spatula. He noticed that Yoongi was wearing basketball shorts and a sweatshirt, and the connecting door next to the stove hung ajar.
"But anyway, why didn't you tell me that this door existed?" Yoongi demanded. Jimin tended to his eggs and shrugged, feeling self-conscious in his state of nakedness. He could feel Yoongi staring at him, imagining blisters forming on his back from the tattooed boy's gaze.
"Maybe I didn't tell you about it because I hoped this wouldn't happen," Jimin mumbled. He determined that his eggs had been sufficiently scrambled and turned off the stove. He grabbed a plate and turned back around, only to see that Yoongi had scooped most of the eggs up in a paper towel.
"What the fuck are you doing with my eggs?" Jimin yelled. Yoongi grinned, and Jimin grabbed his trusty spatula again, brandishing it in front of him menacingly.
"Thanks for the eggs!" Yoongi yelped and dodged Jimin's swipe with the spatula, running back into his own apartment through the connecting door.
"Fucking asshole," Jimin grumbled as the door slammed shut. He looked down at the straggling remainder of his precious eggs. "Taking all my eggs." He finished them off quickly and sighed. The apartment felt dead, like Yoongi had taken its heart when he left. God knows he already took Jimin's. Jimin quickly threw on a sweatshirt and jeans, in case Yoongi decided to invade his apartment again.
Jimin never felt more confused. How do you know if you're in love? He grabbed his phone, smiling at the lock screen. It was the picture he'd taken of Yoongi, with all the cherry blossoms on his face. He opened the photos app and scrolled through the whole photo shoot. Was there a specific moment when you realize that you want to spend your whole life with a certain person?
He debated going over to Yoongi's. It's not like either of them had things to do, anyway. Besides, if they didn't see each other that day, it would be another twenty or so hours until they could. And Jimin just didn't like the prospect of that.
He decided to call Jin. Jin always had the answers.
"Hello?"
"Hi Jin, it's me Jimin!"
"Oh my gosh, hi! Why are you calling so early?"
"I have a question, actually," Jimin said.
"Okay, shoot," Jin replied immediately. Jimin smiled gratefully, even though Jin couldn't see him.
"You're dating Namjoon, right?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Are you in love with him?" Jimin felt like a middle schooler talking about crushes. Jin laughed.
"Of course I'm in love with that idiot," he said. "Where are these questions leading, anyway?"
"When did you know you were in love with him?" Jimin asked, disregarding Jin's question.
