Sphynx groaned and muttered words in his semi-conscious state.

"Ione...Dyrmian...sneeze..."

Shuffling. "I think he's awake!" someone whispered loudly.

"What?" Sphynx murmured sleepily. Struggling to open his weary eyes, he blinked slowly. Two blurry figures gazed down at him. Blinking some more, his eyes focused just so much so that he could see a teenage boy and girl staring at him.

"Brogan?"

Suddenly, the girl yanked him up by his soggy shirt. "What did you say?" She hissed into his face.  Sphynx's eyes fully focused and he realized that it wasn't Ione or Brogan that had rescued-rescued? Sphynx bolted backwards and leaped onto his feet with inhuman speed.

"Where am I? Who are you two?" He shouted loudly. Panic filled him. Could they be working for the man? He crouched in a half fighting stance with his back protected by the wall.

I can defeat them; it's two to one but number doesn't matter if you're up against the man. But I'm Mythara, right? Of course. They would be defeated as easy as singing twinkle twinkles little star, if he could remember the old song...

"Holy Zimbabwe!" the girl yelled.

With her wild purple eyes, she stared open-mouthed at Sphynx. Her companion froze also.

"Amber?" Sphynx mumbled incredulously.

The girl's mouth broke into a grin and she strode over to Sphynx. Gazing up into his eyes she gave him a mighty bear hug, almost knocking the air out of him. Taking a step back, she studied the Mythara in front of her.

"Oh my Paris! You've got to be kidding me!"

"How...how-?" Sphynx was frozen in place and at a lost for words.

"It's a long story, I'll definitely tell you sometime but right now, I think it's time to get you something to eat. I did hear that stomach growl, didn't I?" Amber giggled, more like a wheezing hoot. Sphynx winced.

"I could always recognize you for miles with that...wonderful laugh of yours," he commented and grimaced afterwards. But Amber took no offense at his words.

"And I could always recognize you for your growling stomach. Oh, Shanghai! I forgot to introduce you to my friend over here!"

"My stomach only growled because you stole my chestnuts!" Sphynx looked at Amber, slightly overwhelmed by the fact that she was standing right here next to him. But as soon as he turned and glanced at her friend he froze in utter shock.

"Hello, Sphynx," said the man.
