Chapter 1

Four and a half months after the missing mammals case

Judy's P.O.V

Beep, Beep, Beep
I slowly woke up to my alarm going off. I opened my eyes groggily and lifted my phone in to my paw and shut off the alarm. As I got up, I called my partner, Nick Wilde, to make sure he was up and ready when I pulled up to his apartment.
"Yeah, Judes?"
"Get up! I'm coming over to pick you up."
I heard him chuckle, "I'm already up Carrots"
"Oh! Well that's new." I said sarcastically.
"Oh hardy har. See ya in a few."
After I put on my uniform, I headed out, locking my door and hopped into the cruiser.

After a minute of driving, I started thinking, "Nick is such a great friend, but I think I want to be more than friends." I gasp audibly and my face got warm. "No" I said, talking to nobody in particular, "we are just friends... nothing more" To be honest, I thought I was developing feelings for him, but shrugged them off as I pulled up to his apartment.

Nick's P.O.V

I turned off my phone as Judy pulled up. I walked over to the car and got in, noticing her ears were up in anticipation.
"Hey, Carrots, what's up?"
She seemed deep in thought, and was happy to see me there.
"Um, N-nothing!" She faltered.
I smiled. "She was beautiful, her amazing amethyst eyes- Oh cheese and crackers! I think I'm falling for her!" My own smile faltered as I realized I was staring. I quickly get in the cruiser and look through my window. After a minute of driving, I couldn't hold it in any longer.
"Hey, uh... Judy?"
"Yes, Nick?" She said happily.
I thought for a moment, "Ugh... how do I say something like this?!" I say, gripping my head, and getting angry at myself.
"Nick? What is it?" She asked worriedly.

But, before I knew it, we were at the ZPD station and I almost ran out of the cruiser and into the building, leaving her in the dust. "Why can't I tell her?!" I thought almost angrily. I walk into the station and was greeted by the friendliest cheetah around, Benjamin Clawhauser.
"Hey, Nick! How are you doing?"
"I'm fine."
He giggled, "Oh, that's good to hear!"
I forced a smile, "Well, good morning, Ben! See ya later" I yelled, jogging to catch up with roll call.

Judy's P.O.V

"What was he going to tell me?" That's all I could think about as I walked in, saying hi to Ben and walking to roll call.
We weren't assigned anything too important, just a petty theft at a corner store. Afterwards, we walked to our office and I looked over at the case. I glanced over at Nick, who was still distressed.
"Nick~" I sang. He glanced at me with his emerald eyes looking into mine, both of our faces turning a shade of pink, before looking away. "Maybe he feels the same way after all. No, I can't get my hopes up" After a while, I glanced back up at him, only see that he wasn't there. I sighed and got back to work.

Then out of nowhere, I was picked up and held against the wall. I looked at my attacker and realized it was Nick. "It was that, I love you, Judy Hopps." He then pushed his lips against mine and I was surprised at first, but then melted into the kiss. I softly purred, loving every second of it. He pulled away and his ears went back as he realized what he did.

"Holy cheese and crackers! What... what have I done?!" He was hysterical. I just stood there trying to process what just happened. He wouldn't stop gripping his head with his claws out. "Nick..."I said softly. He turned around, looking like he just saw a ghost. "Y-yes?" I walked up to him, and pulled his tie to meet my eyes, and whispered, "I love you too" before pulling him into a passionate kiss that lasted until we were both out of breath.
