Chapter 5

Nick's P.O.V

I woke up at six forty-five. After realizing we were supposed to get to work, I jumped out of bed, pulling on my clothes and waking up Judy in a rush. She got dressed in her casual clothes, her pink plaid shirt and blue jeans, and sat on the bed, while I was putting on my uniform.

"Nick, stop." Judy said, laughing.
I stopped putting my shirt on, and asked, "What? Don't we have work in 10 minutes?"
"No, we have the week off" She smiled sweetly.
I sighed, and threw down my shirt, lumbering over to her.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I said as I sat next to her.
She blushed, "Well... I got distracted last night."
I chuckled, "Yeah, we both did." I leaned over, giving her a kiss on the forehead. I stood, walking out of her room and into the kitchen, deciding to make Judy some blueberry and carrot pancakes.

Judy's P.O.V

A few minutes later, I smelled something delicious, and got up. I grinned as I saw Nick standing in the kitchen, making pancakes.
"What are you making Nick?"
"Something special for my special bunny" he said, grinning.
I hugged him. "Aww, thanks Nick."
He patted my head, "C'mon Carrots, let's eat" he said as he brought the plate of pancakes over top the table.
I reluctantly let go and followed him to the table.

Nick's P.O.V

After our amazing breakfast, how Judy called it, we went for another walk. This time through the park. There were many other couples out and giving us strange looks. I ignored them, but I could tell they were getting to Judy, since she kept gripping my paw with more force every look we got.
"Hey Carrots, are you alright?"  Her grip immediately loosened, as if hearing my voice calmed her.
"Yeah, Why?"
"Don't lie to me, I know that you're bothered by them."
She sighed, admitting defeat. "Yeah... I, just, don't like it."
I tried comforting her, "It's ok, Judes, just ignore them and they won't get to you."

She sighed and put her arm around me. "Uh oh" She said, stopping and her ears folding behind her head.
"What?" I asked, and looked up and saw what was worried about.

A whole protest about interspecies relationship and all types of animals handing out pamphlets about how it'll never work. Couples of all species were handing them out.

It disgusted me.

Apparently, a giraffe saw us and pointed, drawing the attention of the crowd around him.
Half of the lot came running towards us and we were too shocked to do anything but stand there and keep holding paws. We were surrounded by yelling animals and disgusted faces.

I couldn't even hear myself think. It was horrible, I visibly cringed when they tried breaking our paws apart and dragged us away from each other.
"Stop!" I yelled, but to no avail. All I could hear was, "Interspecies relationships never work! A predator and prey?! Disgusting! Be with your own kind!" And some other anti interspecies slurs. I couldn't imagine the noise level for Judy. Since her ears are super sensitive, it was probably about ten times worse for her.

Judy's P.O.V

It was deafening. All of it. This crowd of anti interspecies animals were pestering me if Nick had hurt me. I obviously responded with no.
I was then brought in front of a bunch of male bunnies, who were apparently interested in me.

With my ears held down trying to muffle the noise, I kept shaking my head to their offers.
"No! I only want my fox, Nick!" I responded to everyone.
It was rather annoying, and I even decided to call Chief Bogo.
"What is that noise, Hopps?!"
"I'm at the park with my partner and there's some protest going on! Please help us!"
"We'll be down in a minute" He said in a gruff voice.
"Just one more minute through this hell" I thought to myself.

I noticed it was louder where Nick was. "I hope he's alright"
All of the sudden, the animals broke apart silent, when three cruisers worth of officers broke apart the protesters and lifted me and Nick out of there.

Afterwards, I asked Nick, concerned, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, you?"
I just hugged him tightly, smiling.
I was honestly thankful we had silence once again. We were dropped off at my apartment, and we silently walked inside. When I closed the front door, Nick was already halfway to the bedroom. I yawned and followed.

When I walked into the room, he was lying on the bed, waiting for me. I slowly crawled in next to him and buried my face in his chest.
"Goodnight Nick"
He pulled me into a hug.
"Goodnight Carrots"
"Hopefully the news won't report the anti interspecies protest with me and Nick in the middle of it all" was the last thing I thought about before falling asleep.
