Chapter 9

Nick's P.O.V

After the train had arrived at Zootopia, I quickly got off with Judy in one arm, and our bags in the other. I arrived at Judy's apartment and laid her down on the bed while I shut and locked the door and walked slowly back to Judy.
I fell asleep next to Judy, my arm draped around her.

"-ick! Nick! Get up!"
I quickly sat up, slipping and hitting the floor with a thud.
"What?! What's going on?!" I asked frantically, standing up and hurriedly walking to Judy, who was in uniform for some reason.
She hugged me, smiling. "I have wonderful news!"

I was confused, and she noticed this.
"Get dressed in your uniform, and meet me in the car." "Okay~" I said, dragging the word. She happily hopped out of the room, and I heard her close the door. I turned around and got dressed.
"What's on that bunny's mind?"

I walked out of the apartment, and got in the car. Judy smiled happily and drove towards the station.
"Uh, Judes, why are we here?"
"You'll see!" She said happily. Her ears were fully erect, like she just heard the best news of her life.
She parks, happily skipping out and into the station.

"Carrots!" I called after her. "Wait up!"
I sighed. "Well, I guess I better get going"
I walk in and quickly realize something is up.
Everybody is in line in front of the front desk saluting and Bogo was nowhere to be seen.

I looked up and down the line until I saw my favorite bunny and stood next to her. "So, uh, mind telling me what's going on?" I whispered.
"Oh, right. My hero's coming."
"Hero? You mean-"
"Yep! Jack Savage!" She said, grinning ear to ear.
"The first ever rabbit secret agent? Doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment." I said, dryly, not trying to sound mean.

Judy opened her mouth to say something, but got cut off by Chief Bogo.
"Enough talk!" He said roughly. "I normally wouldn't care, but that's how you know it's important. Welcome Zootopia's one and only, Jack Savage."

A bunny walked out from behind Bogo. He had grey fur with black stripes and peircing blue eyes and he had a smug look on his face. He radiated an air of authority and danger.

He gave a speech about who he was, what be did for a living, be the best officer you can, how corruption can ruin the city, blah blah blah. I didn't really listen to it.

I could feel Judy's excitement as Jack scanned us up and down until he came across me and Judy. He walked over and looked at us with curiosity until I realized my tail was wrapped around Judy's leg protectivly.
I coughed and unwrapped her leg quickly.

Jack's posture immediately changed.
"Hello, you must be ZDP's first bunny officer... Judy Hopps?"
"Y-yes sir" She saluted.
"He he, no need for such formalities, it's my pleasure." He looked at Judy longingly.
"And you..." He said looking at me, "must be the ZDP's first fox officer, am I right?"
I just nodded, glaring at him.
"I need to ask you two a question. In private. Will that be okay?" He asked us.
"Sure" I grumbled.
"No problem" Judy said.

After walking to our office, he looked around before speaking up.
"Now, I need to know why they paired a bunny with a fox."

Judy's P.O.V

I know Nick wasn't fazed, since he's used to be treated like this.
I, however, was shocked.
"They didn't. I asked him to be my partner." I said.
"And why's that? I know you two solved the Missing Mammals case, which I do give you credit for, but a fox in the ZPD?" He said with hate.
"What's wrong with foxes?" Nick said, angrily.
"Nothing" Jack said innocently. "Just that they use mammals for whatever they want."
"Nick is different! He's not like that anymore." I looked down.
"Anymore?" Jack echoed. "So he was a con artist?"
"Yes, I was" Nick said. "Now I work for the ZPD with Judy."
Jack thought for a second.
"Whatever, let's go."
He pushed past Nick roughly and I heard a growl escape from his mouth as he closed the door.
"I really am not looking forward to hiding out relationship and deal with that guy."
I sighed. "I know, Nick, I know."

"Of all animals, I assumed that Jack would be opened minded to a fox working at the ZPD" I thought sadly.

"Come on, Carrots, we gotta go." He said, grabbing my attention by rubbing the fur on my head and walking out.
