Reality

Enjoy.

Taking in a deep breath,
I begin to type.
Letters turning into words,
Words turning into sentences,
Sentences telling a story.
It's not a fairytale,
It's reality.
There aren't damsels in distress saved by knights in shining armor,
Or dragons slaughtered by kings.
That's only in fiction.
What I'm writing is real, it's deep,
It's non-fiction.
It's happened to the best, the worst, and the broken.
It's happened when least expected,
And causes fresh wounds to open.
It causes pain and suffering, bringing cries of agony.
It's a 10-letter word,
You could rhyme it with expression.
Only you might not be able to tell at first,
There's a gradual progression.
When it first starts,
Brewing inside,
You think you can hide from it.
You allow yourself to deny
What you're feeling inside.
But you can't escape your own thoughts.
So you take it out on yourself.
Picking up your razor,
But not just to shave your legs.
You stop eating all that junk food,
But not because you're on a diet.
You stop smiling as much as you used to,
Once you start going down that slope.
But I have a piece of advice for you,
There is still hope.
You might not see it,
But someone cares for you.
So you've gotta keep on fighting,
It's the only thing to do.
I don't mean to sound cheesy,
I know it's not always true,
But someone out there loves you,
Don't you want to live so you can find out who?
