From This to That

Enjoy.

Grow a few inches,
Weigh a few more pounds.
As the years go by,
We change a lot.
Moving on from pigtails and scrunchies
To hot curling irons and straightening irons.
Going from Saturday morning cartoons
To Saturday night Netflix binging.
Changing our walls from hot pink
To a creamy, sophisticated, white.
Leaving behind our Barbies and stuffed animals,
And taking an interest in gossip and guys.
Switching out our Justice shirts
For some band tees.
Instead of climbing trees,
We sit underneath them,
Our sense of adventure and childishness dulling.
Our childhood is over,
Our innocence is gone.
The next chapter is terrifying,
But we really must move on.
What's lurking up the path,
We'll have to find out.
But we'll stick together, my friend,
Of that I have no doubt.
