As we sat on the grass on a field,
In a warm yet windy late summer night;
And the stars though shined and the moon too bright,
It was her that set my soul alight.As she sat there with her ankles crossed,
There was wind and with her hair it played;
Can you blame me really? As I gazed at her,
And got my incoherent thoughts slayed?Then she asked in her singsong voice,
"Do you know how love could ever be?"
My soul though ached to say it aloud,
I couldn't utter "Love could be you and me."I just shook my head and looked upwards,
To see the moon get dimmed by clouds;
I got my voice and asked, "Love will you ever be mine?
Will it be me whom your soul allows?"She looked at me through her thick black lash,
Her eyes now shining in the dimmed moonlight;
She closed her eyes and kissed my lips,
My heartbeat stopped and then took a flight."I was waiting for this day." She said.
Her eyes more blue than the sky or sea;
I held her close and took an oath,
"Love, it will be you and me."
