I looked at my open binder full of work I had to get done. Then I looked at Cameron. Then I looked at the clock on the wall. Then I looked at Cameron. Lunch was the next period, a whole hour for me to focus entirely on my phone, my friends, and food.
After what felt like hours, the bell finally rang and every student started to push there way down the crowded hallway. Today, I wasn't feeling up to the usual below average cheese burgers served at school, so I headed out to my parked car. Our school was located very conveniently on the side of town with some of the best dining. I drove to my favorite restaurant and coffee shop. It was packed as usual, so I found a seat outside. A few girls from school were sitting at a table, but I sat on a cushioned bench and plugged my phone into an outlet.
After a few minutes of scrolling through instagram and twitter, I heard someone say my name. I looked up to see Cameron standing in front of me, grinning. "Can I sit?"
"Sure." I scooted over to make room for him. The girls at the table glared at me enviously.
"So," Cameron said. "Do you want to come over this afternoon? I might be making a new vine."
I was quick to agree, of course, and thought about it for the rest of the school day.
