Kara stood at the altar and tried her best to hold still while taking deeps breaths.
She had been light headed since she walked down the aisle awhile ago with her father and she was afraid that at any given time she would collapse in the middle of the ceremony.
Here she was, getting married with one of the most eligible bachelors in America and the man that has been the subject of her dreams her entire life. She couldn't hide her excitement and happiness the entire day as she walked down the aisle. Her smile faltered and her steps became wobbly as soon as she glanced up at Jake and found him with a scowl on his face. It made her cringe inward and almost made her change her mind and run away instead.
He was sending her daggers through his eyes since the ceremony started and she couldn't help but to start feeling deflated as the priest begun the matrimony.

She knew him from their childhood days, his parents were close family friends and they had spent enough time in each other's house while growing up. They were roughly the same age and he seemed nice to her when they were kids but hardly ever played with her or acknowledged her when she was around. When they were in high school, she was regarded as an average nerd while he ran in circles with the popular kids. He was a jock who unintentionally attracted girls wherever he went. Unbeknownst to him she had started to admire him from afar. He was drop dead gorgeous. He was tall, built, with a strong jawline, rich brown hair and steel gray eyes. She would stare at him when he wasn't looking and observed him without him noticing. She had found out that apart from being gorgeous, he was smart and had a great sense of humor all in one. He was charming when he wanted to and had a way of getting who or what when he wanted to.
Little did she know, that would be the beginning of her downfall, because the moment she started falling in love with Jake Williams from afar, all her common sense went out the window.

When he started noticing her, she was giddy and full of excitement. It all began in a barbeque party his parents threw one weekend. He came up to her while she was engrossed in reading the book in her hand, sitting on the blanket she laid on the grass while leaning on a tree at his backyard. The spot was a bit farther from the people, which gave her silence and peace to enjoy her read. Surprise was an understatement when she felt a movement beside her and realized it was Jake who was now sitting right beside her.He gave a smile that melted her insides the moment their eyes met and she felt like an eternity passed before he spoke and said Hi to her. It was then how they started talking and having a conversation for the very first time.
She remembered how she blushed furiously when he asked her if he could keep her company and how they spent the whole day together talking, laughing and getting to know each other. At the end of the day, Jake asked for her number and asked her out for a date. Thus beginning their whirl wind romance or so she thought.
After 6 months of dating, Jake started ignoring and ditching her out of the blue. One day she had had enough and confronted him with what was going on but never did it play in her head how the entire thing would go down.
Upon confronting him, he cruelly went straight to the point and admitted he wasn't really into her and that he only dated her because of a bet made with his friends. She couldn't believe it at first and thought he was making a bad joke. When she realized he wasn't bluffing she froze. Realization hit her like a wall when it dawned on her how truthful he was with his word, she became frantic and begged him to tell her it was all a joke, that he was lying, that he was not that cruel to destroy her but she underestimated his darkness.
