"You look beautiful Abby." Taylour teared up as she stood behind me looking at me through the mirror. The makeup artist and hairdresser had just finished their work and I had 20 minutes of free time to pull myself together before walking down the aisle. I sat in the makeup chair and stared at myself. My hair had been dyed back to an enhance shade of my natural blonde color, it was pulled up in a big heap of loose curls that slightly hung to frame my made up face.
Everything about me looked beautiful and slightly fake, my natural pale skin had been bronzed by an expensive spray tan, my teeth had been suffocated with bleach that left them stunningly white and faintly sore with sensitivity, any hair that had once innocently grown on my body had been painfully ripped off excluding my eyebrows and head. It was all for show, for the pictures, the spectators, the tabloids and magazines that my picture would be slapped on. It was all too much and I wanted to quit, call it off but as soon as I saw Kalin at the end of that aisle I lost all of the anxieties that had rattled my head endlessly. With my mom's arm tucked around mine I focused solely on Kalins teary eyes, I kiss my mother goodbye and stepped in to Kalins embrace. Hugging him was not part of the rehearsal but I had no control over my emotions or body. I gently placed my hands in his and stared into his eyes for what felt like only two minutes until the pastor had me repeat after him, signaling that the 30 minute ceremony was almost complete and I was minutes away from being Mrs. White. The pastor asked Kalin a series of questions that I completely missed until Kalin answered back with "I do". The pastor then turned to me
"Abigail Kay, do you take Kalin to be your wedded husband? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in sickness and in health, remaining faithful to him as long as you both shall live?"
I sucked in a deep breath and smiled
"I do."
