Serena's canteen of Polyjuice Potion was running low. It would take a month to brew another batch. They were running out of time to get somewhere safe. With Dumbledore gone, she felt as if there was no one to help her...unless...she spoke with Professor Snape. Maybe then she could get some answers. She knew Oliver and her friends wouldn't like this idea.
"We must leave," said Oliver.
"No," said Serena suddenly. Her friends stared at her. "I want to talk to Professor Snape. I don't believe he killed Dumbledore, at least not on purpose. I have to know what his plan is...he's always been a family friend. I know he wouldn't hurt me."
"Serena, he's a Death Eater," said Oliver. "Or at least he used to be one. He'll turn you over to the Dark Lord."
"No, I don't think he would," said Serena. "He believed in when I was in school. He trusted me as Quidditch Captain, even though I let him down on multiple occasions. I know he would help us."
"Serena listen to me," said Oliver as he grabbed her shoulders. "Any second, Death Eaters are going to storm this pub and take us in for questioning. Our potion will wear off and we'll be trapped. We have no way out of this unless we leave right now."
"You go then," said Serena. His eyes widened in shock. His brown hair was reappearing under his thick, black, disguised hair.
"What?" he asked.
"Serena, no," said Maggie.
"I'm serious," she said. "I've put you all in enough danger. It's time for me to go off on my own. You all go back to Fred and George's. Stay there and stay safe until I am able to get help."
"No, I'm not leaving you, no way in hell!" protested Oliver.
"Serena we need to stick together," said Olivia.
"You have to," said Serena looking out the window. "We're running out of time. If we leave now, we're just taking ten steps backwards. You can either stay here and get caught with me, or you can let me go, now!"
"Come on Oliver," said Maggie. "We need to trust her. She's right. Maybe she can get some help."
"I don't want to leave you," he said choking back tears. "What if...we never..."
"Stop it," she said pulling him close. "We'll see each other again. I promise. You have to go now."
Maggie and Olivia pulled Oliver out of the pub. He looked back at her one more time. She knew that this was their only chance. She had to do something. She downed her last bit of Polyjuice Potion. That gave her an hour to find Professor Snape and sort everything out.
She pulled the hood of her cloak over her head and exited the pub. She wasn't sure why she expected Oliver to be there, but he wasn't and she was sad. She headed towards the castle wondering how she was going to find Snape. She was sure he was surrounded by other Death Eaters, but she was glad she wouldn't be recognized.
As she approached the castle, she realized that Hagrid's hut was on fire.
"Oh no," she whispered, worried that Hagrid was hurt and so was Fang. As she got closer, she could hear voices.
"Fight back! You coward, fight back!"
There was a flash of light and Serena could see Professor Snape in the distance, along with Bellatrix Lestrange and a few others she didn't recognize. A curse was flying towards Snape, but he blocked it and sent it flying towards whoever sent it. She realized that it was Harry Potter. Serena decided she couldn't get any closer or she would be seen. Snape slowly made his way over to Harry, who was now lying on the ground. He spoke to him, and then turned away again. Serena decided she needed to follow him. There was no turning back now. The question now was, how would she get Snape away from the others?
