Chapter 16

Daniel's POV:

I woke up with the most beautiful man in my arms. I run my fingers through his hair and he cuddles closer into me, still asleep.

I feel bad for what I did still and I'm going to make it up to him. "How about we go get some breakfast and then go shopping?" I ask kissing his neck. He nods his head and starts to stretch.

"Wait, who's watching Nick?!" He asks and I let out a giggle. "Hope is watching him. It's all good." I say and then his worried expression changes to joy. "If you want you can let her go home and then I could get Cat to watch the boys?" He asks. I take his offer and call Hope, telling her the plan.

"I'm going to go home and change and grab Nick then we can go!" I say getting up. He nods and starts getting up also. I lean down and give him a quick kiss before leaving.

"Is my daddy ok?" I hear a small voice say beside me as I go to walk out the door. I turn and see Max cuddled into his blanket.

** flashback**

Nick's POV:

I woke up to shouting, I walk downstairs and see my dad and Daniel outside. My dad has tears rolling down his cheeks, which makes me sad because I've never seen him like that.

I turn and walk back to my room with tears starting to roll down my face. "Daddy is ok, Daniel will make him better. Right?" I think to myself. Soon the shouting stops and I hear the door shut and whispering coming from the other room.

A small smile takes over my face and I close my eyes letting sleep take over.

**Flashback over**

Daniel's POV:

"He's ok buddy, we just had a little problem." I say making him look at ease. "The last time I saw my dad cry was because of that big butthead Preston." He says. I frown. "I don't think you're like Preston. I actually like you, you make my dad happy." He explains and I smile.

"But I swear if you ever hurt my dad.......you will pay." He says and my eyes widen. "I promise I won't hurt your dad." I say with a grin. He holds out his pinky and I take it into mine, but then pull him into a hug.

"I'll be back shortly with Nick so y'all can play ok?" I say opening the door. He nods and I leave. Gosh I love that kid.

"Hey kiddo!" I say picking Nick up and throwing him over my shoulder. I run around the house like a horse while he laughs. I take him back to the couch and toss him down and start to tickle him.

"Stop!! ST-STAHHHH!!" He yells. Hope walks in with sleep in her eyes. "What in the world are y'all doing at 7 in the morning?" She says rubbing her eyes. I stop tickling Nick and tell him to get dressed.

Hope walks towards the kitchen and starts making her morning tea. "Why don't you go home and go to sleep, I got Nick now." I say, she nods. "Did you get your lover back?" She asks and I nod laughing.

She smiles and pours sugar into her tea. "Thanks for talking to me last night." I say and she nods her head. "Ok well I'm going to head home." She says walking towards the door with her drink. I hug her and then she's gone.

"Are you ready?" I ask Nick. "Almost." He replies slipping on his shirt. "Ok, I'm going to get dressed then we can go to Max's house ok?" I ask and he nods.

I slip in a casual button up and some skinnies with black vans. I brush my teeth and fix my hair. I take a selfie in the mirror and then delete it. It was ugly anyways.

"I'm done dad." Nick says and then we head for the door and hop into the car. "Why weren't you here this morning?" He asks. "I was at Macs house fixing a problem." I reply and he nods.

We pull into the driveway and get out walking into the house. "We're back!" I say and then Max comes running around the corner. The boys give each other hugs and then run off to play.

"Well hello gorgeous!" I say as Joey walks down the stairs. I put my hands on his hips and pull him into a hug. "You know I love you right?" I ask and he looks up and gives me a sweet kiss. "Yes I do." He says and smiles.

"Ok let's go I'm a hungry boy! Bye Cat!" I say, but then yell at Cat. We leave and go get some nummies.
