two rings and the person on the other side of the line answered. "hello? mingyu?" the boy smiled. "hey. how are you?" he looked at the clock standing on his desk. 13:34. it was the afternoon and the girl seemed to just have woken up from a deep sleep. "i'm feeling... sleepy. simon is not home and i wanted to catch up my sleep." the tired girl whispered.

"i heard. how about a date?" a silence came and then a sneeze. "ew." she groaned when she noticed she just sneezed on herself.

habits don't die fast.

the boy laughed at her cute behaviour. "suri?" he heard her hum and blow her nose. "do you want to go on a date?" another silence. "sure?" she yawned. a big smile appeared on his lips. "you don't seem so sure. i was thinking about taking you out to a dinner and then go out for a car ride. and maybe walk around han river."

that sounded like the perfect last minute date to suri. little did she know, mingyu has been hesitating to ask her out on a date for almost a week now. he was now sweating and waiting for an answer. fortunately, she gave him a positive answer. few seconds later, she ended the call to go take a shower.

not even ten minutes later, the boy's phone ringtone rang. "hey." — "hey." suri tried to look for something to wear and dropped a book that was hanging on the corner of her desk. an yelp escaped her mouth and she quickly squatted to pick it up and put it back where it was. "sorry." the boy didn't say anything back.

she ended up wearing jean shorts in which was tugged a white shirt, and a navy oversized cardigan (which belonged to mingyu). she let her fading brown hair dry wavy.

"do you mind if i pick you up at your place or do you prefer meet up somewhere?" suri shrugged as if he could see it. "eum, i don't really mind. i don't have a ride. simon took the car." she put on her navy high knee socks and sat down on her bed, her cellphone between her ear and shoulder.

"i'll be there soon, i guess." and for some reason, suri's heart skipped a beat. younger, she had dreamed about having this kind of relationship with the special someone. it was the first she's been this... intimate with someone else than herself and... her.

"do you mind if i don't hang up?" she hummed. she heard a door open and close on the other line. "hold up, i'll just put the speaker on. i don't want to get an accident before my first date with you." the girl blushed, a small smile tickling her lips.

mingyu's car started with a soft roar and he stepped on the accelerator. "do you want to eat something in particular, other than tons of breads and pastries?" he asked, which made her laugh in kind of embarassement. "but you are the one that buys me tons of breads and pastries..." — "i am, but i want to buy you something else than sweets. and i got my pay yesterday." he sang in a false note. again, his crush's laugh was heard, making him feel warm and fluffy.

"surprise me, mingyu."

when she told mingyu to surprise her, she didn't expect him to take her out to a fancy healthy restaurant where a bowl of salad costs up to 13$ she ordered the cheapest (and surprisingly the biggest) dish out of the menu, and ate it slowly, not sure she'd be able to eat it all. she unconsciously wiped her utensils before digging in her white plate. it tasted like heaven.

"is it good?" mingyu asked after he took a bite of his fancy kimchi spaghetti. the girl nodded quite eagerly, which made him smile. "it's kind of bigger than i expected it to be..." she admitted, filling her cheeks with creamy pasta dish.

she looked up when she felt someone loo— no, staring at her. for a split of second, her eyes met his, but he abruptly looked down. as if nothing happened.

little did she know, his heart was beating like crazy.

the car ride was silent, but not the awkward silent. the pleasant kind of silent where you can just stay by the person's side without saying a word and be happy.

suri leaned over the window, looking at the unknown scenery. everything was green, blue, purple, pink yellow. her eyes were glowing in happiness.

mingyu decided to take her out of town, in the neighbor city more precisely, at the very last second before they stepped out of the restaurant.

"you can sleep on the way if you want. i don't know how much time it'll take." she didn't fall asleep, and they ended up playing 21 questions.

she didn't say anything when his big palm found its way on her exposed knee. it even felt... nice and heartwarming.

"mingyu..." he hummed, his eyes still on the road, and wanting to take her hand that was so close to his. to his surprise, she silently took his hand, intertwining their fingers together. their gazes met.

it was something so big to her, it felt like a dream. no one had ever looked at her with so much affection. with so much love.

"i like you."
