“One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish! I get a bingo!” Louis playfully yells and throws his cards down on the table.
“I don’t think that’s how poker works.” Harry counters, giving Louis a quizzical eye. Niall cackles. “Yeah, well I have all reds.” He boasts and lays his cards down, causing the others to burst into laughter as well.
“We’re never going to be able to play properly if you don’t take this seriously, Niall!” Louis sasses and Niall laughs more. You saunter over from the island in the kitchen and hand Niall a beer while placing your arm around his shoulder.
“Are you lads ready to go?” you ask, a smile poking at your lips. Niall wraps his arm around your thighs and looks up at you.
“Thanks babe.” He comments about the beer and takes a sip.
“Yeah, we’re ready.” Harry replies.
“No drink for me? Seriously, what kind of establishment is this?!” Louis continues, sarcastically slamming his hands on the table. Niall giggles as he stands up and places a kiss on your cheek. “I’ll get my coat.”
A little while later you are picking a putter and fighting for dibs on the green ball with Harry.
“It’s my favorite color, Harry, come on.” You playfully argue.
“But it’s my favorite color!” He whines.
“Oh come on, Harray—be a man!” Louis quips and Harry shoots him an amused glare. Niall grins and takes the green ball from Harry. “Here you go, babe.”
“Fine.” Harry pretends to be upset. “I like pink balls better anyway.” Louis and Niall die laughing and you shake your head and roll your eyes. “I can dress you up, but I can’t take you out.” You playfully sigh. “Sorry babe, sorry. Sorry.” Niall repeats, still sharing glances with the boys and laughing as he places his hand on the small of your back and leads you on. You can’t help but chuckle a little bit at his amusement as you all make your way to the first putting hole. Five minutes later, Louis is still lining his first shot up.
“Honestly Lou, it’s just mini golf.” Harry complains.
“Just mini golf? I’ll have you know this is a serious art form! Don’t interrupt the master while he’s at work.” He exclaims, then goes back to his concentration. “Prepare.. to be owned.”
Harry plops down on a fake rock on the side of the course. “No one’s going to win or lose if you don’t hurry up and make your move.” He replies, poking at a plant with his putter. Louis swings and yells, “HOLE IN ONE!!”
“Lou, that didn’t even stay on the course! It’s in the waterfall, you doughnut! Not even close.” Harry chides.
“Yeah.. hole in one.. in the waterfall! That takes extra skill, you know.” Louis continues, grinning.
“Seriously? You are so, like.. weird.” Harry glares as he puts his mini golf ball in place.
“They’re like an old married couple. Or five year old twins.” You whisper to Niall as they continue their banter. He laughs in agreement.
“Why don’t we start on the last nine holes and then switch with them?” he suggests, an impish look gleaming in his eyes. You nod and give a coy look back.
“No no, like this.” Niall instructs, wrapping his arms around you and shifting your hands on the putter. You laugh, egging him on. “Like this?” you ask, intentionally messing up your stance. He giggles in return. “Yep, exactly like that. Perfect form.” He plays along, backing away. You awkwardly send the ball flying and burst into laughter. “Now let me show you how it’s really done.” He states, pompously switching places with you and lining up his ball. In a few quick strokes his ball has found its way into the hole and you smile as he places his arm around you and you continue on to the next hole. “It’s not fair that you’ve had all that golfing practice, you know.” You play. He grins down at you. “Look at it this way—no matter what you do you can’t be worse than Louis and Harry.” You laugh and he leans down to kiss you.
“Seriously?! Every time, you two!” Louis calls from the other side of the hole you’ve just arrived at. You glance over and then pull away, giving a flat glare in he and Harry’s direction.
“Don’t look at me! It wasn’t my fault!” Harry whimpers. You shake your head and roll your eyes. “Never mind them.” You speak lowly to Niall and pull his lips back to yours. A chuckle pops out of the back of his throat as Louis yells, “FINE. We’ll just go on to the next hole then!” and trudges past you. You giggle as Niall replies with, “Good, ya crazy lads!”
In the end, Niall beats everyone and Louis almost gets you kicked out by using his putter as a sword and insisting that, yes, he did get a hole in one on every hole and deserves the large mounted fish above the cashier’s desk. As crazy as it always is, you wouldn’t trade having the other guys around for the world. They keep you laughing and make your time with Niall that much more special.
