Ashton's POV

A/N I'm writing this from the hospital so sorry if it's really bad😬

As I drive, I think about what we read last night. Addie's file was scary. She had been hurt so often and it was all by people who should've protected her.

Micheal and Calum were livid when they found out, they wanted to go and hunt down her father, while Luke and I were holding back tears.

She'd been starved, beaten, abused physically and sexually. At 4 years old Addelyn had suffered more than any of us.

We have all become attached to her already and we've only met her once. I already want to protect her and keep her safe from everyone and everything.

We pull up to the orphanage and it looks like all hell has broken loose. There are kids running around outside, people screaming, police cars everywhere. I get this weird feeling, like something is really really wrong.

"Whoa... What the f*ck happened here?" Micheal is looking out the window, jaw dropped.

"I don't know but we gotta make sure Addie is ok!" Calum already had his door open and was climbing out of the van. Luke, Micheal and I quickly followed him up to the door where the police were putting yellow crime scene tape up.

"Hi can you tell us what's happening? We adopted a little girl last night, Addelyn Rose Delafleur, well now she's Addelyn Rose Irwin, and we were asking to bring her to the doctors today and then we are supposed to pick her up later this week" Micheal finally stopped for a breath.

"I can't tell you much because the investigation is ongoing. However what we know right now is a 37 year old male came to this residence around 7:27 this morning and was able to break in. He then opened fire before killing himself" She pauses and looks at our horrified faces "I know it sounds bad, but there was only 1 life threatening injury, a 4 year old girl who was brought to the hospital about 25 minutes ago. I assure you we are doing everything possible to keep these kids safe and find out who the man was"

I look at the other boys. Without even thinking we know it's Addie who went to the hospital. Calum says a quick thank you to the officer and we rush back to the van.

We walk through the hospital looking for room 123. No one says anything, worry etched on our faces. I stop a passing nurse and she points up in the right direction. It's Mickey who finally finds the room. Addelyn Irwin is written in the patient slot. I slowly push the door open preparing myself for the worst.
