A/N: I like switching the perspectives of the characters every now and then to make it feel more personal. This chapter should be more like the first...no specific POV. Hopefully that's okay! :)
Oscar sat down behind the counter in his lab. Descreetly, he pulled a green notebook and pencil from a drawer and sat down. A message was written on the first page:
"This is Oscar's journal! (I decided to write a "journal" instead of a "diary", because that's for girls). THIS JOURNAL IS NOT INTENDED TO BE READ BY ANYONE OTHER THAN OSCAR!"
Oscar turned to an empty page and began to write.
I don't know what to do. Ever since the incident with the Flip-Floperinator, I have felt guilty even looking at gadgets. I'm afraid that I am going to accidentally create another gadget that has the potential to hurt someone. I don't know if Olive could ever forgive me. It was all my fault that the whole thing happened, and I feel like I should just stop messing with gadgets all together. Maybe it's best that I just leave the squad and let another more qualified scientist take my place.
With a sigh, he put the journal away.
"Oscar! Where are you? We need an Un-piano-finger-inator for a case we're working on. Oscar?"
Olive entered the lab, searching for Oscar.
"Oh well, he must be busy. I'll just look for the gadget myself."
Climbing behind the counter, she began searching through the drawers. Then her fingers clasped around a notebook.
"Wonder what this is?"
Olive opened the journal to the first page and read Oscar's message.
"It won't hurt to take just a peek, right?"
As she fingered the pages, she came upon the most recent entry. Her jaw dropped when she finished reading. Suddenly, she shoved the journal back inside the drawer and hurried to Ms. O's office. Coming around the corner, her feet stopped along with her heart. There, in front of Ms. O's desk, Oscar stood with his badge held in his hand.
